Acts Of Kindness Definition
It could be as simple as a "good morning" to a person standing next to you in the elevator. Smalls acts of kindness could mean the world to someone. Small acts of kindness can have an impact on others because it can turn their day around, change the way someone looks at you, and help boost someone’s self-confidence. The first way small acts of kindness can have an impact on others is it can turn someone’s day around. To start off this paragraph, I have a story. “Leaving a store, I returned to my car only to find that I’d locked my keys and cell phone inside. A teenager riding his bike saw me kick a tire and say a few choice words. “What’s wrong?” he asked. I explained my situation. “But even if I could call my wife,” I said, “she can’t bring me her car key, since this is our only car.” He handed me his cell phone. “Call your wife and tell her I’m coming to get her key.” “That’s seven miles round …show more content…
Let’s put this into perspective. You’re walking down the road and you see someone who you’re not very fond of, maybe you’ve heard rumors about them, etc. When they pass you, they stop you and say hello and compliment your outfit. Your view on that person would probably change. This applies to anyone. If you were the person who complimented the other, you could make many new friends. There are also many other ways small acts of kindness can benefit you. As a matter of fact, in many different reports, scientists say that doing a kind thing to someone else creates a greater sense of calmness and relaxation, which may also ease pain (from headaches to back pain) and may even reduce high blood pressure. Receiving a warm reaction and knowing that you have helped with easing loneliness or helplessness can give you personal satisfaction. Maybe it's not that drastic. The initial reactions from an act of kindness may lead to a sense of connectedness with other

“Lawry!” Come look at this one, it’s so cute!” She didn’t take her eyes off the small light blue baby shirt. She already stacked a whole bunch of clothes on my arms, but I guess one more couldn’t hurt. Besides, it’s for my son who’s coming to this world soon. “Well, Lawry? How is it?” I looked at her and slowly formed a smile. “You have good taste. You are the picker and I’m the payer.” She chuckled and took the shirt from the hanger and put it in my arms. “You forgot the carrier.” I laughed silently while pointing at her stomach. “You, too.” She gave me a cute smile and hooked her arm with mine. “I think that’s enough for now.” We walked towards the register. “That would be one hundred and forty-eight dollars and fifty cents.” My jaw dropped that it almost reached the floor. Angela looked at me. “Lawry, it’s on sale.” I stayed silent for a few seconds and brought my jaw back up. I then formed a huge sarcastic smile on my face. “Yes, yes. No problem. A check is good, right?” The cashier nodded and I sighed as I handed her the check with my signature.…

Kindness is a virtue. Among humans, this trait is remarkably important when it comes to the care and treatment of one another in a set community. As these communities evolve, it has been seen that the kinder, more positive group has thrived and therefore will continue to prosper. Many agree that we all obtain the quality of empathy, but it’s whether we choose to show it or not is what makes the difference. This discussion of kindness is seen in Olivia Judson’s passage, “The Selfless Gene”. Within this short passage, Judson discusses that empathy is deemed to be innate in humans. However, many argue that empathy is more of a choice, and we can choose whether to feel it or not. This ideology is expressed in Daryl Cameron’s, “Empathy Is Actually…

What I mean is, positive actions can have great effects on people by trying to convince government officials to give aid to the poor, which could then lead to even bigger things. In the text, Mahatma Gandhi, says,” He also helped convince the government to give aid to the poor. His efforts eventually led to the creation of the nation of India.” This reminds me of when we were giving goody bags to the people that needed it most/more than me. To tie it all together, positive actions can have great effects on…

How people help their neighbors through tragedies and circumstances will determine how that society will thrive. As Claude Levi Strauss said, “It is the principle of reciprocity that holds a society together”. People have been helping each other survive for hundreds of years. Humans brand an action as kind by its performance, consequences, and by the person 's intentions. Reciprocity is considered a determining factor of human behavior. Reciprocity is trading favors or making a negotiation or a contract with another person. With reciprocity, a small favor can produce a sense of obligation to a larger return favor. This feeling of obligation allows an action to be reciprocated with another action. However, there is a sense of future obligation with reciprocity. It can help develop and continue relationships with people. Reciprocity works because children are taught at a young age to be polite and return favors. We teach our youth to treat people the way we would want to be treated.…

That is why they tell others about a courteous deed that they did. They do not want their generosity to go unnoticed. When someone is known for doing a good deed, their social status will typically rise. Unless, people realize that their generous act was actually an attempt to benefit themselves, and not the individual that received the "generosity". When people share an admirable deed that they did, it can come off as bragging if they do it all the time. Humans are extra generous when others are aware of their actions. (BERMAN, JONATHAN Z., et al) The dictionary definition of generosity is "readiness or liberality in giving". This means that the person is eager and always willing to assist others in need. It means that the person does not think twice about helping someone. It makes them feel content knowing that they made someone else's day a little bit better. An example of this would be the story of a little coffee shop in Winnipeg, Canada. One day, a man was getting a cup of coffee when the patron behind him decided to pay for his coffee. They were complete strangers. Then the next citizen in line paid for the other person's coffee. It continued on and on like that for the next 226 customers. Generosity is absolutely contagious. Contagion happens when an individual who has interacted with generous people in one group donates more in the next group. (Tsvetkova, Milena, and Michael W. Macy). That is what happened…

People sometimes forget the simple fact that being nice to others can actually be good for them. My mother and some unique persons whom am going to mention later guided and chided me to being a very nice person. Sometimes it works and sometimes it didn 't. After all, we all get ill-tempered from time to time and take it out on those around us. We can see that being nice to others is good for them, but did you realize it 's in your best interest too?…
