What alternative solutions would you propose for this situation? a. In order for the existing programmers to continue to support current customers, hire outside contractors to develop the new product. Kelly should work closely with the contractors. As the segments of the software are approved by Kelly, start training the AcuScan employees on the support of the software. When the project is completed and released, retain the contractors for a period of time to fully train employees. b. Release the new product in stages. Have the basics completed by the August deadline, then release upgrades and improvements every few months. This allows continuous improvement on the product.
9. State the relative strengths and weaknesses for each solution.
a. Outside contractors will allow AcuScan programmers to stay focused on their current customers. This choice could also allow full release in August hopefully staying ahead of the competition. Outside contractors will increase the cost, which could be offset by the gain in the market share of the product. They are not familiar with AcuScan so some important questions might go unanswered and slow down the process. There is the possibility the software could fall into the wrong
