Adaptations Of Star Fish

Starfish have many adaptations to live in the ocean. They have special adaptations that affect their chance of survival and reproduction in the ocean. Some of the many adaptations the starfish has are the adaptation to re-grow after an attack, use their feet to move along the ocean, locate prey by their light-sensing eyespots, eat large quantities of food, and their physical structure to protect them from predators by camouflage and bright colors. In the ocean, starfish are able to grow almost their entire bodies after predators attack because of their vital organs along with their nervous systems that are found in their arms and the starfish don't have any brains to be injured in an attack. They are also able to cut themselves
With the adaptation to regrow their bodies, it allows them to reproduce by splitting in half and this increases the population by the reproduction. Without this adaptation, the starfish could not reproduce and the starfish species would die off. Next, by the adaptation to use their tube feet to walk around, it allows the starfish a chance to survive. This adaptation will allow the starfish to roam around and catch food to survive because everything biotic needs a source of energy and the energy for the starfish would be the food in the ocean. The starfishes adaptation to use their physical structure they are able to hide from predators and scare off predators. In the ocean, some predators are known to be scared or are confused by the bright colors and by the starfish being able to have their bright colors, it will scare the predators off so that the starfish can live longer. By using camouflage, it gives another opportunity to let the starfish hide from predators rather than scare the predators off and possibly risk their life more. By these two adaptations, it allows the starfish be able to survive in the ocean and increases the likelihood of the starfishes survival by hiding in their shelter, which is one of the three limiting factors in the ocean.
