Adaptive Behavior Assessment

1. Adaptive behavior is a term used to describe how well a student adapts to another type of behavior or environment. The assessment will address the student’s adaptive behavior skills both in and out of school. Areas assessed, and information that may be revealed, include areas of communication, daily living skills, community functioning, socialization, self-reliance skills, and motor skills.
2. Adaptive behavior assessment information can provide information needed to determine an individual’s eligibility for special education services. According to PL 94-142, more than one, non-discriminatory instrument must be used to determine an individual’s eligibility for special education services. Adaptive behavior assessments can provide educators
