Not since German chemist Friedrich Wöhler demonstrated in 1828 that an organic compound, urea, could be synthesized from inorganic precursors, ammonium and cyanic acid (Kinne-Saffran and Kinne, 290), has the line between organic and inorganic or, in this case, biology and chemistry, been blurred as it has been in Addy Pross' book What is Life? How Chemistry Becomes Biology. In it, Pross dispels the traditional belief that life's evolution and origin must be subdivided into a chemical phase followed by a biological one and, instead, argues that, fundamentally, there exists only one process whose description can be in chemical terms of a high-complexity phase preceded by a low-complexity one [Fig. 1].

    The Primordial Soup Hypothesis, otherwise known as "The Primordial Soup Theory," was developed by the Russian chemist A.I. Oparin and English geneticist J.B.S. Haldane. Oparin & Haldane(1920) formed this idea separately though. In this theory, the basic aspects of life all came from simple molecules that formed in the atmosphere with the addition of oxygen. They believed that Earth had a chemically reducing atmosphere. This produced monomers. These monomers formed a "soup," that developed organic polymers, and the basic building blocks of life, in the oceans or ponds. Neither scientist had any real evidence to support their theory until Stanley Miller & Harold Urey(1953) decided to test their theory. They used a highly reduced mixture of gases- methane, ammonia and hydrogen- to form organic monomers like amino acids.     The technological advancements, in the scientific field, have opened opportunities for scientists to accumulate knowledge and understanding of the cell theory and have thus provided justification to the living organisms that exist. Notably, prior to the proposal of the cell theory, limited knowledge and understanding of what humans comprised of was evident and thus the theory of spontaneous generation was brought forth. This theory, which has been disproved by Virchow in 1855, suggests that living matter arouses spontaneously from non-living matter. As a consequence of limited technology, many people believed this theory as technological inventions like the light compound microscope, which showed life, were non-existent at the time. Evidently, in 1665, Robert Hooke, an English scientist, invented his own compound microscope and observed the cellular nature of the cork. The topic of cells was brought forth and from this moment, in 1674 Leeuwenhoek viewed microscope ' animalcules' and in 1838, Schleiden and Schwann produced the cell theory, stating that all living things are made of cells and cells are the basic unit of organisms. Moreover, the technological introduction of stains were developed and assisted scientists to efficiently see cells and their internal structures. This staining technique, as a result of technology, created a contrast between the transparent material and its background, presenting a clear image of the cell. Therefore, through the technology advancement in staining techniques, the processes of the cells and nuclear division of the cell were visible. Significantly, towards the end of the 19th century, compound light microscopes had been developed to a point where the resolving power of microscopes was diminishing, with difficulty in separating objects.     The main goal of synthetic life is to recreate life from nonliving components. Synthetic biology attempts to create new biological molecules and even novel living species capable of carrying out a range of important medical and industrial functions. From manufacturing pharmaceuticals to detoxifying polluted land and water. In medicine, it offers prospects of using designer biological parts as a starting point for an entirely new class of therapies and diagnostic tools (Nature). One of the aims of synthetic biology is to understand the many interactions in living cells and by fabricating biological systems and understanding how they function. Since natural biological systems are so complex, scientists in this field start by making simple synthetic systems and then studying what factors affect that fabricated system. In this way, the "design" of future synthetic systems can be continually improved as well as gaining a deeper insight to the complex interactions within those biological systems.     To care about someone’s health and well-being is very important. To care about someone like a patient in this matter is more so because of medical malpractice. If a patient feels like they were neglected or mistreated and something bad came from being your care, there could be a possibility of a lawsuit. The main thing is to actually be sincere and truly care about a person. A person can tell when someone is not being sincere. To truly care about a person can give them the will to get better and to survive depending on condition. Communication is important as well when dealing in the medical field. To prevent miscommunication, make sure you are understood. If you don’t understand something or are not quit sure you heard something right, ask questions, get clarification to prevent miscommunication or any mishaps. Competence is also essential. If you are not confident in what you do and you are not knowledgeable in what you do then you will not have or gain the trust of your patients. You should always keep your skills and your education current and up to date. Charting is for documentation purposes. When documenting in charts, information should be documented as if the patient may be reading it. Documentation needs to be written legibly and accurately. I believe that all the four C’s play a very important roll in the medical field, but in my opinion I feel that caring and charting a little more important just for the simple fact that everyone wants to cared about.
