Adivasi’s of central India are never seen as same as north-eastern tribes, what they share is common cultural ecological terms like they treat their women better then Hindu caste, the generally live in wooded areas, they have rich traditions of music and dance, they usually pray Vishnu and Siva. However from Indian democracies perspective what unites them is their economic and social disadvantage. Demographically Adivasi are worse than Dalit’s as literacy rate of Adivasi’s is lower than Dalit’s, school dropout rate of Adivasi’s is higher that of Dalit’s, what’s more surprising is that there are more Adivasi’s who comes under poverty line than Dalit’s, various other factors like access to safe drinking water, health facilities, immunization in which Adivasi’s are more poorly served than Dalit’s. as far as Guha’s knowledge no Adivasi has ever served in highest posts and offices like president, prime minister, home minister, agriculture minister, defense minister, external affairs minister, and no Adivasi till date has been appointed as judge of supreme court, this itself show’s that how much they lack and even now they are confined till state and seen as discrete, broken-up and fragmented. Adivasi’s have not got a leader or person who stood for their rights and fought for them or to whom they can look up to as that happened in case of Muslim’s (M A Jinnah) and Dalit’s (B R Ambedkar and Mayawati). Dalit’s are also in minority but they lived in mixed communities with upper caste and their experience in oppression on them was also of same nature (prohibition from entering into temples, access only to inferior water etc.) and that’s how they became important for political parties for vote’s. But in case of Tribal’s there was variation in oppression exercised on them such as forest officials, moneylenders, development project, mining project etc. Even when it comes to media Muslim’s and Dalit’s are served better then Tribal’s. in this situation what Tribal’s were looking forward to were Maoist’s but there main aim was to capture power in Delhi through armed process and not social and economic development of Adivasi’s.
