Complainant states that the HCV program exists to aid low-income families in obtaining a decent place to live and to promote economically mixed housing. Complainant argues that Respondents required tenants to have an income of three times the base monthly rent. Based on the monthly rent of $1,910, Respondents would have required that a tenant for that unit have a monthly income of $5,730 and an annual income of $68,760. Respondents state that they “qualify every applicant in the same manner.” Therefore, HCV participants are qualified for tenancy in the same manner as market-rate tenants by annualizing their monthly income. Complainant states that Respondents do not factor in housing assistance payments through the HCV program into its calculation of annual income, instead relying on income verification like its Employment Verification Form. Complainant maintains that such a policy has a disparate impact on HCV participants by failing to count what may be the most significant portion of their…

From a cost and benefit perspective on the voucher program; the cost starts with the family receiving the voucher. They pay 30% of their gross income towards their monthly rent. The voucher pays the landlord for the unpaid rent balance, which is the total Fair Market Rent (FMR) minus the family contribution; this equals program cost. The family is required to find its own rental and Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) agency. This agency inspects the dwelling to be sure it meets Housing Quality Standards (this is a cost for program administrators) and executes a three part lease with…

The patient very often is by themselves when diagnosed with an illness. Ultimately it is helpful to have a friend or family present when the diagnosis is given. The Patient doesn’t hear the instructions from the doctor and does not listen to what the prognosis is. This often leaves the patient in the dark and with many questions once they get home. After the diagnosis of cancer is heard by the patient, very little of the remaining conversation is retained. For this reason, it is easier to have a friend or family member there not only to listen to what the doctor is saying, but to also be there for consoling the patient. Whether it is to just listen or to talk it through on the ride home, the patient needs someone there to help them deal with the news on their health.…

01.01 - The purpose of being able to communicate with one another is to be able to understand each other for several different reasons. One of the main reasons is, if you need help with something or don’t understand how to do something you need to be able to ask somebody else. So being able to understand someone is very important in daily life. Some people may make things sound really easy and others may make things sound really difficult, it’s how you communicate that makes things easier in life. Communication can come in many different forms, so how you interpret and listen will depend on how easy it is to understand them. Communication is highly important in the workplace, when I first started working in H M Williams; I had no idea of what to do or how to do things. I didn’t know anyone, so it took a while to get used to the working environment. To start off with I was asking lots of questions, simply because I had never done what I was asked before. I made sure to try and communicate with everyone, mainly to try and get to know them a little better, but also to understand the workplace more. We also communicate in business environments to listen to each other’s problems, and solve difficulties we face in day to day operations in our work and personal life. It helps us find solutions to problems that may come into our lives.…
