Advantage and Disadvantage of Technology
Advantage and Disadvantage of Technology

Introduction

Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems in order to solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal or perform a specific function. Technology is, by definition, the practical application of knowledge. It is the systematic treatment of art and science. In the last century many people did things by hand but nowadays more and more tasks have become automated. For example, many people have washing machines, clothes driers and dishwashers, so the amount of energy needed to wash and dry clothes and wash dishes is greatly reduced.

Today, we can’t imagine ourselves without technological advances such as cars, microwaves, cell phones, computers, and televisions. However, technology won’t stop here, but develop further. Throughout history, technological innovations have helped humankind improve their standards of living, beginning with the simple invention of bone tools of prehistoric times, continuing on to and beyond modern air conditioners, automobiles, and super computers. As technology develops, there are not only advantages, but disadvantages from them.

Advantages

A few advantages of technology are that one can save time, money and life will be made easier as a result of not having to do all the hard labor.First of all, we don't need to do repetitive tasks and this gives us more time to do other things.Secondly, for people, who are less able to do jobs, like elderly or disabled people, these machines are a great helpfull to them. Future developments may be able to help them even more. I think, this is the most positive side of technology.

Disadvantages

In contrast, the disadvantages of upgraded technology are that people will loose their jobs to machines that will do the work for them. In addition, machines and robots are too complex for most people to use. As I mentioned, it is up to the individual what they do with this extra time. Unfortunately, instead of doing everyday tasks people tend to watch television or play video games. Furthermore many adavancement in technology made people very lazy , this can lead to an inactive lifestyle and people are becoming unhealthy.

Conclusion

Even as there are as many advantages and disadvantages of technology, I personally wish a more advanced world with great technologies. Because technology made our life even more easier and people who cannot do certain things are able to do them with the help of technology.

But they also have their negative impacts. For instance, health care providers depend on technology too much and they don’t spend too much time getting to know their patients as individuals. They spend most of the time with their equipment, which in the long run, could lead to the doctor missing a particular symptom which could be in a different diagnosis altogether. Furthermore, the advancements in medical technology could follow up with very high costs, as the company who manufactured the product or provides the services spent a lot of money into the research and marketing aspect of the product/service. Whenever technology moves forward, the cost gets higher too as there is a solution which was not available for the previous generations.…

Throughout the vast history of humanity, humans have always used their innovative and cognitive skills to create tools to better improve their chances at survival on this planet. This technology advancement first began in the Stone Age when man fist discovered that stone could be utilized as both a harvesting tool and hunting weapon; which gradually developed into spears, bows and arrows, and swords. And as time pressed on, one of the most important and influential inventions since the beginning of time was designed in the shape of a circle: the wheel. However, unlike in earlier times, the evolution of technology in the past 60 years has been growing so rapidly that society has scarcely been able to keep up with it on a global scale. And due to this accelerated development of technology, accurate assessment and critical reflection on our dependency of these new technologies has been greatly hindered. So if one were to consider all the consequences and results of today’s technology objectively, could our dependency on modern day technology be viewed as positive or negative outcome? Both sides of this argument have solid, valid claims, but do the pros outweigh the cons or are the benefits of technology not worth the potential harm it can cause to our society.…
