Today, I’m very happy for your attendance here to listen my topic: effects of online violent games on young people.
My presentation has 3 parts: Introduction, body and conclusion; In the body, I focus on 3 points. They are some effects of online violent games on young people.
Now, I would like to start my topic.
Slide 3: As you know, nowadays, youths have many forms of entertainment, and playing online games is also one of them. In recent years, violent games are more popular than ever and there have been an increasing number of young people who spend their time playing these games.
Slide 4: However, the fact showed that online violent games have many negative effects to young people such as three effects below: 1. changing personality, 2.reducing health, 3. wasting time and money.
Slide 5: The first effect that I want to mention is: Online violent games can change the personality of young people.
Why can I say that? Because not as watching TV, when a gamer plays a game, he or she doesn’t only watch and listen but also be a real character in the game with rudimentary and modern weapons to select victims, and of course to kill the victims. So their mood or their behaviors can be affected by violent actions in the games. They will be able to become more aggressive. You can see this resullt by the chart:
As you can see in this chart "Results From The research of Bushman and Anderson", the students who had played one of the violent games responded much more aggressively to the story than did those who played the nonviolent games.
Slide 6: Beside influence on mood and behavior, the online violent games also affect the awareness of young people, especially defying the law? In fact, there were many criminal cases that murderers are gamers.
An example for this effect, Phan Quoc Thai, a teenage gamer in Tien Giang, he killed his grandfather and cut head of his grandfather to clear the proof because his grandfather had known that he stole the money. He killed the person and didn’t care to the law. And this is the picture when he had been detained.
Slide 7: In the next slide, Reducing health is the second effect of online violent games on young people. When gamers contact their eyes with computer screen frequently, their eyesight can be decreased.
Slide 8: and with sitting in front of computer for long hours, gamers are easy to be overweight and get spinal injury.
Slide 9: In addition, as you can see this picture, highly concentration to play violent games for a long time can make gamers stress or tired. This thing affects daily activities of young people very much. Slide 10: The last effect, as some other games, gamers can waste much money and time for online violent games. Therefore, their finance would be reduced, or they don’t have enough time to improve themselves with sociall skills, career skills or to catch their dreams.
Slide 11: In conclusion, much contact with online violent games may seriously affected the life of young people. It may lead to many violent activities, bad health and losing much time as well as money. So, young people should have a right viewpoint about violent games and play it under control of themselves.

Most people would argue that video games cause teenagers to commit violent crimes, but not everyone agrees with that. There are many cases that people have conducted research on teenagers that have committed acts of violence after playing video games. The authors of these articles state that video games leads to aggression and violence in the people that actually become aggressive or commit crimes. One thing that wasn’t in to many of these articles was there comparison to the people that play violent video games and don’t commit violence, but they also play for the same amount of time as the people that commit the violent crimes…

In my most recent essay I wrote of the violence attributed to video games in light of various shootings and other tragedies that occurred in the past year or so. In this essay I argued that despite their violent content, video games are not completely to blame for acts of violence committed by children. Throughout this essay I tried to convince the reader by, first, establishing my own credibility with video games, then sharing my own experiences with violent games, and providing both empirical data and valuable insight from trusted sources.…

After review of the publication, Game On, a Harvard Health Letter, I discovered that the social and cultural ramifications of video games are of high debate upon many parents and adults. Games are played by people of all ages and sexes but the vast majority of “gamers” are teenage boys. This is worry some considering they are attracted to action games with bloodshed, violence and explicit content. In Grand Theft Auto, a best seller, the players sell drugs on the streets while shooting at gangs and buying prostitutes, what we in America consider violent behavior. Thirty years of research prove that media violence promotes aggressive behavior in young people however, due to the amount of additional underlying factors which can be ruled in such as substance abuse, cultural beliefs, abusive parents and innate personalities, it is very hard to establish a direct connection between the violence stemming from these games and other things. Through research of brain scans they have proven that thoughts of aggression and violent shooter games will activate the brain in a similar way however, directly showing a link to the games and violence in the real world has not yet occurred. Although some claim that games have real benefits it seems they are more so to promote aggressive behavior. With more and more people becoming addicted to the games, game “detox” has erupted to help the one in twelve young people affected by…

In this paper, Carnagey, Anderson, and Bushman hypothesize that the rise and popularity of violent video games are desensitizing people, especially children, leading them to have brash personalities which leads to real life violence. In their introduction, the authors state that over eighty-five percent of games contain some form of violence, and also cite an older paper stating that many games rated "E" are still considered too violent by parents. They also state that although there are quite a substantial amount of papers on the subject, they continue to cause debate or are seen as inconclusive. However, their goal with this test was to at link the desensitization of a person leading to violent behaviors due to the person playing video games.…

Violence in video games has been around for many years and many kids have played them. Some people believe that these video games change the kids’ minds and make them killers while others feel that it does nothing to them. Although no outcome has been decided yet, studies have shown that the violence in videogames can change the way that kids think, some bad like killing and others good like problem solving. As technology gets more advanced and the graphics get better, the video games become more violent. However, there has also been a rise in sports and puzzle games allowing kids to problem solve and maybe get motivated to play a sport. Violent video games can be an issue to the society because of the kids that play them, but violent videogames could help us train kids to be more focused.…

“If video games do increase violent tendencies outside the laboratory, the explosion of gaming over the past decade from 3.2 billion in sales in 1995 to $7 billion in 2003, according to industry figures, would suggest a parallel trend in youth violence. Instead, youth violence has been decreasing.” (Hoerrner 49). A video game is a game played by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a television screen or display. Violence is behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Some video games have violent and mature content in them. People claim that the violence in video games can cause aggression in people. Others claim that the violence in video games has nothing to do with aggression in people. It is also argued that violence in video games has nothing to do with the rage already existing inside of people. Video games do not cause violence because gamers understand that video games are not real, that video games release daily frustration and are inspiring.…
