The reason why puritanism was considered a good thing was due to Puritans living closely by the bible and making better decisions in life. Puritans lived by the ten commandments and by what the bible says. An example of puritans living by the bible is not to steal, commit adultery, murder, and many more.Others may say that it's a disadvantage of being a puritan because they have to live by the bible. The reason is because they get punished if they do not live by the bible because if they don’t they will be pictured as a devil worshiper.Even though they had to live by the bible there can be many other things that make it an advantage for them.
By placing God above all, for puritans it promised them a predestined way into heaven. They all went to church, they prayed, and tried their best to behave and follow the book exactly. They didn’t want to commit a sin and end up going to hell. They followed the life according to the bible …show more content…
exactly so that sin were not committed. Women were not allowed to work on the fields with the men, they were expected to take care if the home. The men provided the goods and women provided the care. Although others may argue that women not having enough rights as men did was unfair. If god was not their number one priority they could/would be accused of witchcraft and following the devil instead of jesus. Having to put God above all was not so bad, it actually help them become better people and think of others than themselves.
Working in the community and trusting one another was a huge advantage.
Puritanism was not only “God” all around but also working together for the common good. Puritans knew one another within the vicinity, not one person was left out. Being able to connect with several people within the community would affect not only the person, but the community itself. There would be a beneficial impact for everyone. Puritans grew products and gave to one another. No one would be left out or unknown. Some would say that Puritans were forced into creating a well placed community; however, these communities did it for God to look good upon them. God was their almighty and the reason Puritans continued on with their lives. Puritans benefited by working with one another in their community. Even though that was not the only advantage, Puritans lived their lives steadier than
others.
