A good citizenship has many good benefits for a community and society as a whole such as;
Improves society and makes a positive difference- Our social environment is becoming more of a better place because of the good citizens that live in it. They provide a sense of community in a area that doesn't normally feel close and there is also a sense of pride around the whole surroundings. This can be maintained by people keeping the area they live in clean such as making their house and garden presentable and nice to look at, good citizens also act as brilliant role models for younger people.
Protects the environment- Good citizens have the importance of the environment on their minds a lot this can be on several different levels. At a local kind of level this could mean cleaning up litter from the surrounding areas and putting it in a dustbin, and ensure all dog mess is cleaned up of the pavement as this is illegal anyway, signs can help make sure this happens too, this makes the area a lot more attractive and more hygienic. Good citizens also get involved in local projects such as a recycling schemes to maintain the area, they try there hardest to get the whole community involved to make it a more friendly neighbourhood. On a much bigger scale good citizens may get involved in charities such as Greenpeace and other environmental charities around the world.
Challenges Injustice and enables fairness- Good citizens challenge injustice and the origins of injustice. This could mean challenging people who disrespect against homophobic and other religions by their language they use towards individuals. They also act as a guard over people who can't express their thoughts or speak for themselves such as elderly people and others who are more vulnerable. A good citizen always supports fairness and equality and encourages others to do the same this makes the society a much better place in the long term.
