I think our group made quite a few amendments. Our main one was our shot list. We planned to use much more shots than we did. For example we planned to use 30 different shots but we didn’t even use half of them! This was due to the weather in the area we were filming in. We had checked the weather before we set the date and it didn’t say that it would be that cold so we planned the costumes accordingly. Our whole group was feeling cold so we cut out some of the shots that we didn’t necessarily need. Another amendment is we didn’t plan on using any editing effects however when we were in the editing suite we thought that there were some editing effects that fit our advert for example: cross fades & slow motion. Originally we had an advert about a black male that went and bought trainers and got chased by the police and our slogan would be ‘they’re so good they’re criminal!’ We then realised that this advert would be a stereotype and also incorporated racism. We didn’t think that this would be a good idea to use so we then decided on BEAST trainers. Also for our final product at the end there is a short conversation between Freddy and Coach (Aggy).
‘How does he do it?’ (F)
‘Freddy, it’s the shoes!’ (A)
‘Is it really or is it because he’s B......’ (F)
Instead of saying BEAST we were originally going to say black because we realised that most black athletes do better on events that anyone else; but we realised that this advert was inappropriate due to racism so we changed it to BEAST.
In what ways did you plan your TV advert to use or challenge conventions of real adverts? Think both technically in terms of length, camera and editing techniques as well as the persuasive tools that adverts employ to appeal to audiences.
We planned that if these trainers were worn in a race it would increase your performance dramatically. We planned for our advert to be slightly shorter, however if it
