The problem in this case is that the parents are not aware of the benefits of bilingual and ESL programs. Also, as a prospective educator, I will also educate myself with the proper knowledge of all of the benefits, and even some negative statistics of the programs so I can explain both sides of the issue. The problem with this case is that parents want to get rid of the bilingual and ESL programs completely. They are not willing to compromise on the issue and are taking away an important program of the school without knowing all of the benefits of it. Also, I would gather like-minded people and perhaps other parents who are advocates of this program as well. That way, I can form a strong group of supporters to help persuade the parents that oppose the idea of keeping the programs in their school. My final plan would be to make an informative brochure that lists all of the benefits of having an ESL/ bilingual program at the school and presenting it to the parent at ‘meet the teachers’ night or some school wide event. I would also like to plan a movie night at a PTA meeting or on a school night for the parents and their ELL/LEP children to watch an informative documentary such as Speaking in Tongues by Marcia Jarmel Ken Schneider to further educate each
