At Old Scona Academic high school, I was an avid public speaker and debater and was heavily involved in competitions and conferences. My favorite competition was the annual Churchill Speech and Debate Competitions, which were comprised of both speech and debate competition components where students tackle a current topic and build their case while drawing strong support from research. As a competitor, I approached the President of the Rt. Hon. Sir Winston Churchill Society with an interest to get involved. Upon entering university, the then Director of Competitions asked me if I was interested in succeeding in her position, to which I accepted with great enthusiasm. As the Director of Competitions, my work pertains to planning logistics, managing relations with students and coaches, and working with the University of Alberta Debate Society to ensure a well-run event. Each year, the competitions grow in the number of participants. Last year, we had over 100 high school competitors within the Edmonton region. Now, I am honored to say that I have been involved with the competitions for six years and have organized them for the past
