Discussion of International Partnership for Aetna The purpose of this essay is to assess the international development actions of a selected company. More specifically, the essay will focus on the health insurance agency Aetna. The essay will begin with a description of the partnership in which Aetna is engaged. Then, the essay will proceed to a consideration of how Aetna's partnership came to fruition. Finally, the essay will discuss how Aetna could perhaps further develop this partnership to its own advantage.
Description of Partnership An important global partnership in which Aetna has engaged consists of its connection with Swiss Life. Aetna (2013) entered into a deal where they would be able to offer foreign healthcare plans in Singapore for members of Swiss Life, with the deal being preceded by recognition of "Aetna as the United States partner for the

Swiss Life has essentially delegated Aetna to do its work in Singapore: the company's in-house services were transferred over to Aetna. If this could happen in Singapore, it seems plausible that it could happen in other countries as well. Aetna could develop its capacity to provide foreign healthcare plans around the globe, and Swiss Life Network could delegate more and more responsibility to Aetna in this regard. Not only would this expand the international capacities of Aetna, it would also free up the resources of Swiss Life in order to pursue new innovations within the business. Aetna could also consider partnering with other global companies such as Swiss Life, in the event that Swiss Life is not able or willing to pursue this course of action. The key point is that providing healthcare plans through international partnerships represents a great opportunity for Aetna to grow and develop at the global
