The purpose is that the student demonstrates a good understanding of the key concepts and ideas in each chapter. To perform reasonably well in the exam, it will be sufficient to read the chapter references (Hirshey 2009) for each lecture, the lecture slides as well as the topics covered in the tutorials. Format: 5 questions, 60 marks Students are asked to answer all questions. Answers may require: o The use of diagrams (graphs), formulas (equations), and simple calculations. o The use of other concepts learned. o The interpretation of the results in short- sentences. o The exam will NOT contain any essay-type questions! Duration: 2 hours (10 min reading time + 2 hours) Hurdle requirement (Need to get at least 40% in the final exam). The exam will clearly state if a diagram or an adequate formula (equation, identity) is required to answer the question. If we ask you to derive a value (X) using a graph, just indicate the position of the value on the graph. If it is not explicitly required to use a diagram (equation), but you think a diagram (equation) can help to answer, you are welcome to use a diagram (equation).
