Resolved:
The United States ought to extend to non-citizens accused of terrorism the same constitutional due process protections it grants to citizens.
“If one devalues rationality, the world tends to fall apart.” Lars von Trier and with that, I affirm the resolution.

Value Criterion:
Self-actualization-the Morality, spontaneity, problem solving skills, lack of prejudice and acceptance of facts we revive through Maslows Hierchical pyramid which explains that self actualization can not be attained without ensuring the needs that are imperative. They are: Physiological needs like food water, safety needs like the security of the body, employment ,morality, health and property. More needs include love/belonging and dignity and esteem
We as the USA uphold and mainly want the greatest good for the greatest amount (UDHR). This decree was essentially made by America and applied to the UN so other countries can have the same ideals of the USA.
When we do not achieve the second and fourth step of Maslow’s Hierarchy, (safety and esteem) we are not able to achieve Self-Actualization we are not allowing them to fulfill essentially the meaning of life, self actualization. However, when we allow people to achieve Self-Actualization they serve greater good as stated before by , safety needs like the security of the body, employment ,morality, health and property.
If we simply lash out at those countries who commit acts of terrorism, then we become as brutish and unwise as they are. Instead, we must use rational thought when encountering a situation such as terrorism. The safest route (in theory) would be to use rational thought for it is what separates us from beasts. We have the ability to keep ourselves safe by rationally attacking a situation and not always physically attacking a situation, which CAN hinder and HAS interfered with the US’ chance at safety.
