Racism is an issue which frequently generates a great deal of heated debate. Back in history, the aspect of slavery is portrayed as the way of life for African Americans. Therefore, during the between 1954-68 period, the movement of black Americans became one of the most important movement in our history. It first appeared in the United States and the main concept of this movement concerned with social equality. Nowadays, most people believe that the negative effects of apartheid do not appear in African Americans in today’s society anymore. Base on BBC news, in 2014, Both Eric Garner and Michael Brown who were without weapons were killed by police. From this news, it caused many African Americans got mad at this tragic death of two blacks. Therefore, in the same year, there was an international activist movement which called Black lives matter or BLM. The aim of this Black lives matter movement generally against violence racism from criminal justice system. In this movement, protesters also made a die-in activity for imitate the situation when Michael Brown- African American victim who was killed by police and his body was neglected in the middle of street for over four hours. In the case of Michael Brown, he was shooting by white police because Brown attacked with this police when he ordered him to walk on footpath. African Americans claimed that Brown had no weapon with himself and there were witnesses who saw that Brown raised his hands up to the air and said “Hands Up. Don’t Shoot.” The last sentence before he was shooting. In the case of Eric Garner, he did not accept the arrest of police with the charge of selling loosies or single cigarettes without tax stamps. For a long time ago, African-Americans were not allowed to vote in elections. Furthermore, when blacks can participate in presidential elections, most people always take blacks for granted.
