After Duty Dogs Suffer Like Soldier: Article Analysis

I have chosen three different types of media to share with you about how significant the effects or consequences of war can be. I have selected some pictures from Eddie Adams the article “After Duty, Dogs Suffer Like Soldiers” and the video: James Nachtwey’s Searing Photo’s of War. These three pieces of media will definitely astound you. You may never think that war could have such a dramatic effect on people or animals.

First lets start with my article about a mans best friend. The article titled “After Duty, Dogs Suffer Like Soldiers” explains how war can have effect on animals, mostly dogs after they leave the line of fire and are home. This article suggests that dogs could suffer from PTSD or Post-traumatic stress disorder. We use
dogs in wars for many things and it has been proven that they are indeed a huge help. They do thinks like sniffing out hidden land mines that can not be detected with a mine-sweeping instrument, searching through houses, and other things like sniffing put the other soldiers. As you can imagine this is going to be stressful on dogs just as it would be on humans. But it might be more severe on dogs because some vets are saying some of these dogs are being treated for PTSD after they return from war. In most cases the dogs return to normal after a little therapy and are returned back into the line of fire. Some cases are never fixed some dogs are stuck with PTSD for the rest of there lives. You may think this isn’t a big deal but some dogs go crazy over little things like cars or houses. Usually wherever there traumatic event occurred is where there PTSD will kick in the most. This is a question you should ask yourself: is it really worth all the stress we put on these animals? Yes these dogs are saving lives but are the consequences to extreme?

Now lets start talking about these photographs by Eddie Adams.
There are some very traumatizing pictures on here. First I want you too open up your internet browser and get on google or your favorite search engine and type in “photographs by Eddie Adams” and search it. Now you’re seeing exactly what I am. The one picture that is sticking out to me is the first one on my page which is a guy holding a pistol to a civilians head. Now you may think nothing of this but let me tell you a very interesting fact about this picture. The guy holding the pistol has just pulled the trigger the civilian has a bullet in his brain at this very second. A second before or after this picture nothing would be the same. This picture is insane, the guy that was just shot in the head was just an innocent civilian that was shot just because the guy with the pistol could. The consequences of war. Innocent people were killed for no reason. War can obviously do so many things to people, just imagine that he was your husband and was just shot walking down the street. Not only is the dead guy affected but his whole family. They probably just witnessed there father, husband, friend get killed. The traumatic effect that would have on you and your family would be so great you wouldn’t even know what to do. Questions and thoughts would start running through your head like, Am I next? Maybe there was a reason he was killed that we don’t know about. You could go insane from things like this and suffer from major depression. There is another picture that catches my eye, there is a little girl and a couple other little kids behind her running naked down the road. Why are they running naked you may ask. They are running naked because they had just been hit with napalm. They are severely burned. There skin is peeling right off there body. You can’t see all those details in the picture but thats whats happening to them. They are little kids in the age group from probably 4-7. What did those little kids
do too deserve that? They are innocent little kids that may not live threw that, how tragic is that. The consequences of war increase so much farther than just the soldiers.

My last piece of media is the video “James Nachtwey’s Searing Photos of War” A little back round on this video first. James Nachtway is a famous war photographer who was receiving the TED award for his pictures. He always wanted to be left alone and just wanted to do his job and passion in the back of everyone. He shows very graphic pictures of what he has seen. The news articles say one things but his pictures reveal the scary truth on the consequences of war. Pictures show the consequences of war the best because you can see exactly what was going on. James has a very great way of explaining the significance that war has on people. Everyone is truly effected even if you ‘re not physically involved.

The consequences of war are very significant even if you are not personally apart of war. If you don’t have an emotional connection or feel anything when you see theses images, articles, and videos you have no heart. The consequences are extreme not only on people but animals as well and not only the soldiers but for there family and friends as well.
