After Watching Apocalyto Analysis

After I Watched Apocalyto for the first I was in shock. I knew a little about the Mayans and after I watched the movie I learned a little more about them. The Mayans were very violent in the movie. They went after Jaguar Paw tribe basically killing all the men and raping so of the women. They took some of the men a prisoners so they can be sacrifice. They were taken to the Mayans tribe and that is where they were sacrificed. Jaguar Paw life was saved by an eclipse, then the Mayans had another Idea, two men run for their lives and we’ll try and kill them. That is how Jaguar Paw escaped form the Mayans. I was surprised that everything that happened to Jaguar, for example his father was murdered in front of him, and he had to leave his pregnant wife and son behind in a cave and he witnessed many of his people murdered and sacrifice in front of him.
The culture for both tribe were portrayed differently? Jaguar paw tribe seemed more friendly and caring. There was one scene in the movie after they killed the boar they sat around it celebrating and laughing and even pranked one of the guys. The Mayans on the other hand weren’t so peaceful they were portrayed as killer and rapist. The Mayans seemed like they hated every tribe that was nearby, because they invaded other tribe’s territory and kicked people out of their homes and even murdered a lot of them. At the end of the movie Jaguar paw tribes was basically gone everyone was mostly died. After escaping paw killed all the men that were after him. He looks out at the ocean and see a Spanish ships and soldiers sailing to the island. Paw had to make a decision confront the Spanish settlers or save his wife and
