Introduction
Sometimes, we notice that some society issues and stories are given lots of attention some other stories are being avoided. However they are equally important. The policy which decide which issue is important and which is not important is called agenda setting.
It is the function of Mass Media and was firstly introduced by Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw in 1972.
Definition of Agenda Setting
Agenda setting is the theory that says media authorities decide which issues are important and can become topics of discussion in the public. And, they are perceived by society as important and urgent.
Agenda Setting in Pakistan
Since the independence of Pakistan, Our Media has not been as stronger as compared to the today’s world, Although we had too many issued, but we had not enough resources to set agendas. In other words, we can say that there was monopoly of some media authorities.
After that, in the late 1980’s and 1990’s, Pakistan entered the new era of Media development, where people also raised their living standard, Education level was enhanced, New media authorities entered the market. At that time, some pre-defined agendas were settled. In other words, people were interested in only selective subjects, On top are:
1. Kashmir Dispute
Since the creation of Pakistan, It has been a strong agenda of News media that, “How many Muslims are killed in Kashmir. Pakistani People took so much interest in this field.
2. And Political Parties and Political System
Another big agenda in past have been, Political speech, and discussion about what any political person said.

1. Terrorism
Although is issue is a global issue but Pakistan has suffered a lot of war on this issue On one hand, Pakistan is being targeted by suicide bomb attacker, who killed hundreds of people on the other hand, Hundred peoples are being targeted by US drons.
2. Indo-Pak relations
