of Vietnam, and the environment.” My hypothesis is that the government knowingly exposed the agent with only the thought of winning the war in mind, neglecting the soldiers and the environment. I would like to go in-depth on the process of testing before the exposure and the negative effects post war. Diachronically, I plan to focus on the time between 1960 to 1980 because that’s when the agent was supposing released and tested. I want to learn the thought process of the destruction of the chemical on the environment and the people involved and why the American government didn’t think of the outcome of releasing the herbicide in the warzone of Vietnam. I have learned that Agent Orange is herbicide that was used to destroy the forest and vegetation in Vietnam. The United States government was trying to force the enemy soldiers to starve out by destroying their food source. Also, In the process of sabotaging the enemy’s food source, soldier gain medical issues that were lifechanging and hereditary. I want to learn why the American soldiers were not thought about when this very destructive chemical was let loose during the war. I have already found testimonies from Vietnam veterans about the Agent Orange and the effect it had on them medically.
In addition, I plan to also use medical statistics that compares the health of the Veterans after the release of the herbicide. I will also continue my research by focusing on looking at images of the battle zones before and after the exposure to the chemical. Also, understanding long term damages of the agent on the vegetation and wildlife during and after the Vietnam war. I want to find more information about how the locals were affected because they were exposed to Agent Orange more than American soldiers. I still need to find the negative effects it had on the wildlife and the soil. In addition, how did the country survive if their farmlands were tainted by the Americans. By the September 13,2017, I plan to start looking for primary sources that elaborate on the effects of Agent Orange during and after the Vietnam war. Also, I want to look for secondary sources that give insight on what were some solutions of the problem. By the 16th, I plan to be done with my rough draft. On the 17th, I will have it proof read by the writing center. By the 18th, I should be finish with my
paper.
