I’m attending Monterey Peninsula college on a short-term basis Until I transfer to a four year university. Education in my family has never been an option and I have always been pushed to further my education. I myself value my education because it will enhance my knowledge of whatever career I decide to pursue. Learning in general to me has always been important, I love discovering things I’ve never been introduced to or heard of before. Like Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”. I chose to attend MPC to explore my options and figure out what career I want to pursue. One of my short-term education goals is to get good grades in all of my classes this semester (my first semester of college) and to create my ideal career plan. A long-term goal of mine is to complete all of my…

University education is often thought of as just another step that one has to endure to get a decent career. The purpose of education has drastically changed from the past and it seems as though its purpose now distorts one’s outlook on their future. Students are misguided by the idea that university education is the most important aspect of their process of getting a career, that nothing else matters except for education. Indeed, education is an important aspect of life, but the reason people attend university is not for the benefit of getting a job. This shift in perspective on the purpose of education can be considered unintentional (CB p. 334) since it originates back to the olden ways of how the society functions. Before, only the elites had access to education; now, almost everyone is able to gain an education. The only difference now for people, is the level and quality of education that they can attain. Due to the greater access to education, the younger generation believes that the only way they can be successful, relatively, is through education.…

Education is the source of progress and success and the community should be the one who takes advantage of it. According to Arthur W. Chickering (2010) the social institutions with more importance in order to have citizens with adequate levels of cognitive, moral, and intellectual capacity are colleges and universities. Therefore, the significance of educational institutions can be considered as a primary necessity in order to the society to develop and grow the right way, where the coexistence between citizens is adequate and the behavior is reasonable.…

First, by going to college, students are able to get and keep a better job than those who do not have a college education. The more somebody studies in college, the more he or she will succeed in life. Because the world is changing rapidly, and many jobs use new technology, more jobs require education beyond the high school level. With a college education, a wider range of jobs are available, than without this education. In finding a job, education is one of the top priorities to the employer in order to decide whether a person can be hired. Furthermore, it is necessary for certain skill to perform some tasks. This is a significant reason why people go to college, so they can obtain the skills and abilities, which they are going to need in the future.…

The main goals of education should be that students can use what they learn in school and apply it to everyday life. In high school, students should be educated in what they will need for college and how to live and provide for themselves. In college, students should be educated in what career they are going into and how to effectively apply their skills to the job. In today’s education system, many students are just given information to remember and be tested on rather than actually being taught. A majority of students who graduate high school are uneducated because they are not learning anything; they are just regurgitating the information that is crammed down their throat by teachers. This method stifles creativity and makes students believe…
