Today, Airport Directors must work hard and stay sharp to accomplish any challenge that they are faced with. Airport directors face many challenges such as anything from dealing with the current economy to wildlife around the airport. I strongly feel that the biggest challenge that Airport Directors are facing today is the overall coordination of an airport. There are many people that work at an airport to make sure it runs the way it should and it’s the airport director’s job to make sure everyone is doing their job correctly and efficiently so the airport runs the way it should. If even one worker makes a mistake, it can cause a huge chain reaction causing many problems for the airport. An airport that isn’t coordinated well will cause people to avoid going and using that airport and overall leading to ultimate failure of the airport. Let’s say for example, the airplane baggage boy that is responsible with loading luggage onto the airplane falls asleep on the job and forgets to load the baggage, then the plane takes off and one of the workers on the plane notices the luggage is missing. The plane then has to make a 180 and come back to land to pick up the missing luggage. In this situation, the airport director really must step in, in order to fix this problem quickly without causing too much delay for other aircraft. The director must make sure a worker or workers are ready to load up the plane, he must contact the current air traffic controller and find out where he or she will park the plane and be sure that the plane is marked as delayed, etc. Even if it’s a normal running day at the airport with no problems, the airport director still must work hard to make sure that everything is running as it should and that there are absolutely no problems with coordination throughout the airport, which involves parking, ground transportation, air traffic
