Fish on! Fish on! We were fishing on Eagle Lake Canada and we were headed to our lucky spot by Bird Turd island it is out in the BIG lake. We are fishing on a windy day, we hit a huge 4 foot wave head on and our Crestliner boat capsized. I quickly grabbed my backpack, in my backpack I had a marine radio, a survival kit, sunscreen, and some extra food. We swam to closest island call Bird Turd island. I looked back, all of my belonging were sinking to the bottom of the lake. We were shipwrecked! I was screaming and screaming and screaming for help but no one could hear me. I heard a boat so I screamed so more and no one was there. I was hoping someone was coming. I stayed there for what felt like hours, so I decided to walk around and look at the island. I came across and tiny little shed.…
Throughout On Such a Full Sea, Chang-Rae Lee presents a futuristic American society which has settled itself into three different hierarchical levels. In the strictly structured routine which involves B-mors providing food and supply in return for security from the elite Charter class, the act of disrupting the system or even questioning it is very unlikely. As Lee’s character Fan breaks away from her daily life in the fish tanks of B-mor in search of the one she loves, she has unknowingly inspired the people back home and everyone she meets along the way with the notorious story of the girl who defied the government’s rigid conduct, ultimately leaving a path to follow. On Such a Full Sea does not argue the question as to “whether [or not] we are ‘individuals’”, but, instead, “whether being an ‘individual’ makes a difference” (Lee). Through the character ‘Fan’, Lee expresses that one can make a difference in…
The Continental drift was the process in which the Earth’s land surfaces ( at the time known as the pangea) started slowly breaking apart and drifting away. This has continued until the continents were in the places we know them to be today. This drift has caused the formation of separate oceans instead of one huge one. This drift still continues today.…
We already ate and drank have of are supplies. Fluffy and I were both cold but I forgot to grab blankets and pillows. I got up and walked up the stairs cautiously. To see if there was any thing happening, but luckily there wasn't. The stand with the blankets was five feet away. I ran over to the blanket stand and grabbed two blanket and two pillows. I was about to turn around when I heard a knock on the door. I thought it was just the wind when I heard it again. I ran over to the door and saw whole family of people standing outside my door holding onto each other. There was a little girl, a baby, two teen boys and the parents. I grabbed the door knob and turned…
Many people think that fisherman is one of the most male dominated, most dangerous professions and not suite for woman. However, Linda Greenlaw, the captain of the Hannah Boden, has proved herself that female can be a fisherman. She breaks the beliefs and superstitious that women are “Jonahs” (bad luck aboard boats) and also make the world realized that gender discrimination does not play a part on her career. As for being female, she says, "it hasn't been a big deal. I never anticipated problems stemming from being female…I have been surprised…by the number of people who are genuinely amazed that a woman might be capable of running a fishing boat. Frankly, I'm amazed that they're amazed" (58). As being a captain and had been fishing professionally for 15 years, Linda faced many obstacles and problems which forcing her to make good decisions in order to ensure the survival of the boat and reach her ultimate goal, which is to catch as many fish as possible, since the more fish she catches the more money she make. Sword fishing is not easy and very challenge for her. She has to use many supervision and leadership skills to manage the boat, crews and fishing during the month of the trip. Especially dealing with crew problems, she has to solve them as soon as possible in order to maintain her rule and teamwork, which is very important to make her trip run smoothly and reach her ultimate goal. However, even though Greenlaw did not expect of what will happen with her crew during offshore but she has proved herself that she has an ability to cope with them in the effective and efficiency way. Therefore, showing she has capability to cope with crew problems and maintain teamwork among of crews, there are some significant troubles that challenge Greenlaw, which are a striking her irresponsible crew, racial problem between her crewmember and the health problem of her 40-year-old crew.…
The sky was nice and clear. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was perfect. It was a typical third grade day. My friends and I were in recess, goofing around, having fun. We sat on the benches and joked around. Next thing I knew my friend was on my back and I was carrying him around. Not aware of my surroundings, I tripped over a bench, closed my eyes, braced for impact, and fell face first into the dirt. I got up feeling dazed and the first thing I hear is a scream. Confused, I looked over to my friend and her face was a mixture of scared and shocked. I saw friends run to the restroom to get me paper towels, but others told me to go to the office. As I walked to the office, I began to feel pain in my lip. I walked into the office speechless.…
One horrible day, about 3 or 4 years ago. I woke up and all of the feeling in my legs were gone. I tried to get out of bed but my bed is a top bunk with a desk underneath it so It was hard to get out of bed. I tried to use my legs but they were lifeless. They wouldn't move so it was all upper body strength getting down from my bed. Finally, I got down from my bed tried to walk but I couldn’t. So all I could do is yell, so I started screaming “Dad! Dad!” Then I blacked out. I woke up a while later in the car, when I asked my dad where we were going he said the doctors. I looked at the time on my phone, It was 9:30!! At this time I was living in Florida. My school started at…
One day me and my friend John and my uncle Snowman we went to go hunting in the woods and we drove around the place for a good spot to hunt. As we were driving around for a spot we saw found an abandoned place me and my uncle and friend were thinking about it so we decided to go in the place. As we went into the abandoned place we walked far into the place. We had an app on my uncles phone that how far we are from the truck and it said 30.7 miles away. Me and my uncle were surprised how far we were from his truck and how long we walked. As we were walking we heard branches breaking so we layed down and crawled towards the sound.…
It took us a week to get to Missouri but it helped that most of the states to the North were barley infected with the strange sickness. We were going to Missouri to see how my dad’s parents were doing. About an hour before we made it to their house we had to stop for gas and food. The gas station was empty and showed no signs of life. Just in case, I grabbed a pistol and hunting knife and my dad grabbed the shotgun and the machete. My mom waited in the car with the little ones like always. I opened the gas station door for my dad and walked in after him. Slowly realizing what we walked into, we quickly tried to retreat. We walked into a nest of sick people! We shut the doors as fast as possible and barricaded it shut. When we went back to the car my dad and I saw the most terrible thing. The car was surrounded be sick people trying to get to my panicked mom and screaming sisters. We tried so hard to get rid of all the infected people but more kept coming. While fighting off these walkers I hear the buzzing noise one last time. Before I know it the walkers…

We waited anyways. An hour went by and it’s almost our turn to go on the ride. Then right before we were about to get on the ride some girl came by us and was telling us about the drop. She said, “everybody agrees that it’s the best ride here.” She then described the ride to us and we thought it sounded like a fun ride. The girl then left and went with her friends to the other line she was in. We got onto the ride, felt wind blowing in our hair, hands were flying up we were having so much fun. The ride then stopped and we got off of it. The same girl that was telling us about the ride was standing there waiting for us. She decided to go on the ride with us as a group. We walked over to the Drop and the line was empty. We gave the man our tickets and we got on. The man then said “get onto the ride at your own risk.” I began to look around nervously, I was scared but I wasn’t going to back out. I thought to myself “how bad could it actually be brehia?” I knew he was just trying to scare us but was also wondering why the line was empty when there were a few hundred people there. We got on to the ride and we started going up slowly, felt like we were never going to reach the top. We got 100 ft in the air and all of the sudden I felt it shake and rattle, we tilted to the right side. The ride was holding on by a few strings. I was so scared panicking, screaming for help, praying to god that we were all going to be safe. I knew I wasn’t going to live I just knew it. Wishing I could tell my family I love them, hoping for the worst. Knew there was nothing I could do, it was over…
I was playing dodge ball. Usually I'm not very good at it, but one day, I was the last one on the court, and someone threw the ball at me. At that moment, I felt like the end was near. I heard mixed yells from my friends; yells of "Run" and "Catch it!" I almost felt the ball hitting my face as it was coming toward me! I closed my eyes! I heard a loud bang, not unlike a ball hitting someone. First, there was silence, then yells and cheers! I didnt't feel any pain. I realised that since I hadn't felt any pain, I had probably died. Well, I lived a good life. It had seemed that my death had been inevidable to me. I opened my eyes and looked down, expecting to see my body, lying on the floor. but it wasn't. 'That's strange', I thougt, I looked at…
It was about 10:00 and it was time for our free period when we were allowed to go down the slides, the diving boards, or just swim on our own. Three of my buddies said they were going to go off the high dive, I was too shy to speak up about being afraid. I knew it was too little too late now I had to face my fears and just jump. We got in line, and it was as if I was in a trans just staring at everyone climb up the ladder and without hesitation jump and plunge into the icy water. Before I knew it I was on deck and I could feel stomach churning a little bit, as if on cue I heard the splash of Sam and knew it was my turn. I grabbed the metal bars and slowly made my way to the top, I felt like I was a mile off the…
I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…
When I was in fifth grade (12years old) I was at a friend's house for the first time. Me and her were playing in the basement, her brother (17years old)and his friend were on the other side of the room playing video games while me and her were throwing back and forth a big yoga ball. Me and her are throwing back and forth and I miss it, before I can grab it, it hits her brothers Lego Death Star. I look up at her and all I see is fear, she grabs my arm and screams to run. We make it up the first flight of stairs but at the top of the second flight is a very narrow hallway and you had to take a sharp right turn to get to her room and I tripped and fell hard on the wood stairs, she was already in her room screaming at me to get up but I couldn't…
