When you hear a place about Alaska, we think of snow, polar bears, glaciers, and cold weather. When you think of dinosaurs, we think of tropical places and hot climates. You would probably doubt dinosaurs could have ever lived here in Alaska. But about 65 million years ago they not only lived here, they thrived! There are a lot of information about dinosaurs, but what this paper will cover is how dinosaurs directly relate to Alaska. After reading this paper, you will find out how dinosaur research started and how long ago dinosaurs lived in Alaska. Plus find out the type of dinosaurs that lived Alaska, and the type of climate and which parts of Alaska that they lived in. You will also find out what type of evidence they found, if dinosaurs are related to the oil industry, who is still studying dinosaurs, and how this topic is introduced to the public.

How it all began
Dinosaurs strolled the earth over 245 million years ago. So it would only be fair to go all the way back to the beginning and quickly summarize how it all happened. Earth’s history is categorized into two eras, and then categorized by periods. The two eras are Paleozoic era, and Mesozoic era.
Paleozoic era - (560 to 276 million years ago): This is the period where the first fish, corals, shellfish, insects, spiders, and swamp forests appeared.
Mesozoic era - (350 to 65 million years ago)We are most interested in this era. This era contained 3 periods: Triassic period, Jurassic period, Cretaceous period.
Triassic period – 245 million years ago: All the continents were joined together in one huge landmass, aka Pangaea. Climate was hot and dry but with rain seasons. The first tree ferns and coniferous trees were starting to appear. The first dinosaurs such as Euskelosaurus and Coelophosis, and mammals, turtles, crocodiles and frogs appeared.
Jurassic period – (208 million years ago): As the

Were dinosaurs warm or cold blooded has been a long time debated issue. Scientist believe dinosaurs were much like modern day reptiles, cold blooded, and others believe dinosaurs were much like mammals and others birds, warm blooded. Dinosaurs are creatures that lived on Earth around 251 million years ago. Dinosaurs lived in the Mesozoic Era. This era contained three separate subsections: the Triassic Era, the Jurassic Era, and the Cretaceous. When the Mesozoic Era ended, most or a majority of the dinosaurs were extinct due to a catastrophic event that is still unknown to us today. Dinosaurs walked in an upright position, some dinosaurs used two legs, other used four to walk and move around their environments. Dinosaurs came in an array of sizes. Humans were able to examine the…

There are many theories on how dinosaurs became extinct but scientists have not yet found a proven reason why. About sixty-five million years ago Dinosauriformes, or as we call them Dinosaurs, walked and roamed planet Earth. These massive carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores lived many years on earth before humans appeared. There were several variations of dinosaurs such as land, sea, and air dinosaurs. For a millions of years the dinosaurs thrived in their environment. They had an abundant food supply to eat and they had ample space to roam and reproduce offspring. Unfortunately the dinosaurs did not last forever since they all mysteriously became extinct. Three of the main theories on how dinosaurs became extinct are climate changes, an asteroid impact, and massive volcanos erupting.…

The Ordovician Period, which is best known for its diverse marine invertebrates, began 488.3 million years ago and ended 443.7 million years ago. As mentioned, this period is famous for its variety of marine life but also for the major Cambrian-Ordovician extinction event and Ordovician-Silurian mass extinction which began and ended the Ordovician Period. These extinction occurred nearly 488 million years ago and 443 million years ago and eliminated many brachiopods, conodonts, and intensely lowered the number of trilobite species. Although there is not a lot of information on how these extinctions came to be, it may have had something to do with previous extinctions since they so closely preceded these.…

Amphibians first became common during the Carboniferous period. Biologist marked this time as the age of amphibians. By the late Carboniferous, much of North America was covered by low-lying tropical swamplands. Thirty-four families of amphibians thrived in this wet terrestrial environment, sharing it with pelycosaurs and other early reptiles. In the Permian period, after the Carboniferous, amphibians increased to a total of 40 families. During the early Permian period a remarkable change occurred among amphibians, many of them began to leave the marshes for dry uplands. Some of these amphibians had bony plates and armor covering their bodies, and some were as big as a pony. By the mid-Permian, 60 percent of all amphibian species were completely terrestrial.…
