She was the first ever woman to hold the position of Secretary of State. “In 1984, she was appointed as one of the major Democratic party foreign policy advisors to Vice-Presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro”(“Madeleine Albright is born”). She also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and in 1992 she was appointed by president Jimmy Carter to manage the new administration at the National Security Council. In addition, she went to North Korea to meet with Kim Jong II in October, 2000. Going to North Korea made her the highest U.S. official to visit there(“Madeleine Albright Biography”). culture was Bob Hope. Bob Hope did many things and had many achievements. One thing he did was he acted in the Broadway musical Roberta. He made an appearance in Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 and that same year he had a lead role in Red,Hot and Blue. In 1940, he made his first film with Bing Crosby in The Road to Singapore. He had his own radio contract that became a regular feature on Tuesday nights. He had his first NBC special in 1950. He appeared in The BIg Broadcast of 1938 and in The Cat and the Canary. He received several honors from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He hosted the Academy Awards and Hope won a Emmy Award in 1966 for one of his christmas specials. In addition to all of that he took time out of his film and T.V. career to fly out and entertain U.S. soldiers. First, he started a radio show that he did at the California air base in 1941. Next, he traveled with USO performers to bring laughs to military personnel. Also, Hope and his wife and four children spent many of their christmases with the troops. He traveled many times to Vietnam during the Vietnam war. He went to Lebanon in 1983 and in the early 1990s he went to Saudi Arabia to encourage soldiers who participated in the First Gulf War. Lastly, in 1997 the U.S. congress pass a measure to make Bob Hope an honorary of the U.S. military service for his work with the American soldiers.
