When teaching we can implement children’s prior knowledge of a lesson, in order to help them understand what is being taught.
By using a more hands on and cognitive approach when teaching a lesson, the children will be more interested in what is going on around them.
The importance of knowing each child’s ability to read and write as this will make the lessons more enjoyable for the students.
Reciprocal group reading is a great way for children to help each other learn how to read and makes it more fun.
When teaching other lessons it is best to try to add different ways for the class to use their reading and writing skills.

What are the reading and writing standards for each year level?
How much pressure should be on each teacher to have their class literate in accordance to each year level they are in?
How much say or choice do the teachers have in planning what English lessons to teach their class, and can the children have a say in what they want to learn in literature?

That there are a wide variety of group and individual literature activates that the teacher can implement into their classes.
That it is important to keep the class interested and occupied during each lesson so they want to learn more.
The different ways to teach different texts and resources to the class.

    Before they started reading as a group I encouraged the children to discuss what had happened so far to describe each of the characters etc. Once I was clear and felt that each of the children had participated we started reading. The first Child read.......I tried to encourage him to speak up a little so that the others within the group could hear clearly making it easier to follow. As each paragraph was completed I would quietly praise, maybe ask a question, any words the children struggled with I would encouraged to sound out and break down, in most cases the children were able to work it out in other cases the other children would offer support. As this group was of mixed ability I have found on previous observations it tends to increase patience and understanding towards each other, sometimes the more advanced children find it a little frustrating but they definitely support each other which has many benefits, helping the less advanced children become more confident with reading out loud also gaining a greater interest about the story using discussion, having a joke about the characters and discussing what may happen? How the story could end? What if they were the character in the story?......it very much brings it all to life.…
