Although you might know a little bit about her from her TV and Victoria’s Secret appearances, here are nine interesting facts you’ll be surprised to learn.

Number Nine: Alessandra Ambrósio Is Stronger Than She Looks

Sure, modeling looks easy when all you have to do is pose, but Ambrósio proves that modeling requires some serious strength. For the VS Fashion Show in 2011, she had to don 40-pound wings. Add in the extremely high heels she had to strap on and it’s a miracle she made it down the

Number Four: She Owns Her Own Fashion Line

Ambrósio started her own fashion and swimwear line, ále by Alessandra, in 2014. The pieces in the collection are inspired by Ambrósio’s style and are the perfect addition to any tropical vacation wardrobe.

Number Three: She Walked In The VS Fashion Show Three Months After Giving Birth

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is filled with rock hard abs, legs for days, and perfectly curled hair. In Pricing Beauty: The Making of a Fashion Model, Ashley Mears investigates and critiques the inequalities present in the modern-day fashion industry, focusing on the experiences of models in the industry, and the challenges they face in navigating the fashion world, managing their own physical and emotional appearances as social capital, and encountering certain roadblocks or special treatment depending on their race, appearance, and gender. Mears begins her novel by relating her second entry at twenty-three into the modeling industry, and her intent to conduct a firsthand study of the internal workings of the industry, infiltrating the structure from within–as a model.…

13 photo shoots in two days, flying from one country to another in a little less than a day, and getting very little time in between to eat or sleep. This is the typical work schedule of a young fashion model. Their days are filled with several photo-shoots, castings, and shows that they are left with almost no time to be human. These models are expected to work ridiculous hours with no breaks. They are also expected to work without complaining about being tired or hungry – they are overworked beyond the point of exhaustion. There have been guidelines released by The Council of Fashion Designers of America, which state that models under the age of 18 shouldn’t work after midnight. However, since these are only guidelines, they are seldom followed. Several fashion designers have kept their models working way beyond midnight. An example is Marc Jacobs, who has kept one of his 17 year old models working until 4:30 in the morning…

The chances of becoming a super model are the same as to winning the lottery. Just imagine all the teens in the world dreaming to be the next Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss or Heidi Klum, well I bet they’re a lot but not all of them have what it takes to be part of this industry like physical qualities, determination, commitment, stamina, confidence of course and good humor. Agencies are always searching for girls they think will photograph well and those with a natural beauty. Some girls that may not be very outstanding manage to turn it on for the camera and look amazing in photographs. Many of the successful models we know had never thought about modeling until they were discovered because agents can be in a restaurant, streets, and malls just looking for the next “IT” girl. Many times not all of these agents are real. Some of these agents or agencies are run by scam artists who are only interested in taking every last cent you have. They…
