Stormbreaker, written by Anthony Horowitz, is an adventure fiction and thriller novel targeted towards teenagers. It was published on the 4th of September 2000. Stormbreaker holds the battle between Good and Evil, between a young teenager named Alex Rider who is determined on stopping the main antagonist Herod Sayle. Herod Sayle, the main antagonist, is trying to kill every young school child in Britain because of past bullying experiences. Though Alex Rider, the protagonist, gets recruited to stop him so he goes on an intense adventure. Will he save the world read on to find out?

They are good always defeats evil and the ordinary can be a hero. The author is trying to say that good is better than evil. An example of this is when Alex is in the plane with Mr Grin, Herod’s assistant, he jumps out of the plane and parachutes down but Mr Grin has another idea, he flies the plane towards Alex. Alex anticipated this and he used his Gameboy gadget to blow up the plane. The characterisation of Mr Grin feeds the plot. In Stormbreaker the audience is positioned to be on Alex’s side, this creates a sense of mystery when there is no obvious known fate for. The general tone of this novel is on Alex’s side. Alex obviously has a different interpretation on what Herod wants so the audience is positioned to hate Herod and don’t want him to succeed so the tone is very suspensive and on edge. The action in the story is very fast paced because it is on and off. The major action doesn’t start till he gets to the port tallen, which is very fast paced and on edge, but then it stops and then it starts again. It is very on and off and
