Every other founding father's story gets told, every other founding father gets to grow old yet Alexander Hamilton doesn’t get enough credit for all the credit he gave our nation. Alexander Hamilton deserves the legacy he always longed for.Hamilton had a difficult childhood in the Caribbean, his father left when he was only ten. This left Hamilton and his mother in destitution. Two years later Hamilton and his mother fell ill and tragically his mother passed away leaving him an orphan. Alexander knew he had to educate himself and rise up or else he would live a transient life in despair. To escape the impecunious conditions he wrote a book collection and with the income he garnered he purchased a ticket for a ship that was headed to New…
Alexander Hamilton was the sculptor who chiseled the rough edges of America’s economy away. He was the essential part in the plan to solve the massive war debt after the revolution. As a strong federalist, he had views that he and his party shared and were deemed fit for the refinement of America’s economy. Thomas Jefferson was his eternal rival in terms of views. Along with James Madison, Jefferson was the polar opposite to Hamilton. The two past presidents seemed to be rigid with their views concerning political strategies the United States was taking in its early decades. These men before their presidencies were rock solid anti-federalist. However, Jefferson and Madison…
*Hamilton suggested Congress consider ways to “render the constitution of the federal government adequate to the experiences of the union”…
History is written and re-written throughout the years only to be distorted an opinionated by the indirect authors. With this essay I will demonstrate that this rings true for George Robert Twelves Hewes and Alexander Hamilton and what the American Revolution meant to them. The meaning of the revolution to Hewes was one of equality. For Hamilton his idea of revolution was varied greatly from Hewes, he was rather wary of what was to become of the young nation but saw it as an economic and political experiment. Whether you’re speaking of Hewes’s or Hamilton’s revolution this is obvious. In regards to Hewes the departure from his truth shows the alteration of…
Alexander Hamilton is probably the most underrated founding father. Hamilton was an immigrant from the Caribbean who severed in the revolutionary war under George Washington. He would later become Washington’s secretary of treasury, and write Washington’s Farewell Address. Hamilton never stopped trying to improve and build upon our nation. He defended the Constitution, along with James Madison and John Jay, with the Federalist Papers writing in total fifty-one of the eighty-five essays which swayed many to the Federalist party. Hamilton also fought against Jefferson for his purposed financial plan, which we still use today.…
This is fact that the policies and strategies of Thomas Jefferson served and facilitated a vital equilibrium to ideas of Hamilton. Support of Jefferson of states’ rights and farming assisted to balance the influence of the Hamilton-helping mercantilists and companies. Though, in the absence of Hamilton’s offset, the policies of Jefferson may become the administration weak and unsuccessful to treat with huge domestic and international crises.…
A) Freemans’ extensive knowledge and use of specific examples of the cultural perception of Alexander Hamilton throughout American history is definitely a strength of this article. She uses specific characteristics and ideals that America used to describe Hamilton during different eras. For instance, his nationalist views were praised at the end of the civil war and at the turn of the century, progressives respected the “…man who stuck to his principles at any cost” (Freeman, p.259). However, Hamilton’s economic views fell out of favor during the Great Depression when he was associated with Republican failures like Harding and Coolidge. Also, Freeman does a decent job at stating both sides of an argument when discussing Hamilton.…
Alexander Hamilton helped shape America as a founding father, in ways such as politics and government. One of the most famous quotes from him is “Those who stand for nothing fall for anything” (Alexander Hamilton). Born on the small West British Indies island of Nevis, Alexander was made to be a historical figure of importance. He had shown signs of great intelligence starting after a hurricane hit his hometown, and he wrote essays non-stop. He was one of the hardest working founding fathers of America, who did a lot for our country. Without him, the U.S. Constitution might not be, since alongside John Jay and James Madison, they wrote eighty-five essays amongst themselves, defending it. He contributed the other fifty-one essays to what…
Alexander Hamilton, one of the most important people of the time, was the first Secretary of the Treasury. Utilizing federal power to modernize the nation, he convinced Congress to use an elastic interpretation of the Constitution to pass laws that Jefferson deemed unconstitutional. These laws included federal assumption of the state debts, creation of a national bank, and a system of taxes through a tariff on imports and a tax on whiskey. Hamilton was also the creator of the Federalist Party. In contrast, Thomas Jefferson was born to a wealthy family but was nonetheless an anti-federalist. He was sympathetic towards the poor people and advocated state’s rights.…
Intelligence, bravery, and leadership; sounds like every other founding father, and that’s true. George Washington used these traits in war, Thomas Jefferson used these attributes in documents, Benjamin Franklin used these features through his compatibility, and John Adams used these traits for words, but Alexander Hamilton used these characteristics for war, documents, compatibility, and words. He was captain of the company of artillery in war. He was also the main author of The Federalist Papers. He was the leader of the Federalists which were compatible to England. He also convinced Washington to be neutral during the French Revolution. I believe Alexander Hamilton is worthy enough to be called The Founding Father.…
This reflects that Hamilton, representing the public and commoners, simply wants another person to manage the policies of the new nation for them in ways that they desire. Yet, they are unwilling to think carefully for the future of the nation which is why they want Washington to remain in office to save them the hassle. Even when they are given the option, they fulfill their responsibilities as the citizens of the new nation to the least possible extent. In “The Election of 1800”, the opinion of the voters was displayed for the first time, and their immaturity in determining the fate of the nation as well as their lack of willingness to bear the responsibility of their newly acquired citizenship was displayed. Aaron Burr who “glances off, obfuscates, and dances” and avoids questions which a critical process in informing voters of his vision on the nation is (“The Election of 1800” 258).…

Hamilton was a brilliant man who used his time very wisely and did not waste a second doing something he felt was unimportant. Hamilton knew how to use his knowledge to his own advantage. An example of this could be when he teamed up with James Madison and John Jay to create the Federalist Papers. Under a pseudonym, or fake name, the three men wrote a total of 85 essays in the span of six months (Kent 68). James Madison and John Jay did not write many compared to Hamilton. John Jay got very ill after writing five and was unable to write more. Madison wrote 25 of the essays, and Hamilton wrote an astonishing 51. In addition to the Federalist Papers, Hamilton also created the most important thing he will be remembered for. Hamilton was sure that with the start of a new country, they were going to need a good and stable financial system. The United States had already piled up a large amount of national debt, and also had the state debts to deal with. After becoming Secretary of the Treasury in George Washington’s presidential cabinet, Hamilton had to come up with a plan to get rid of the debt. At a cabinet meeting, Hamilton proposed that the nation consumes the state debt and establish a national bank. Thomas Jefferson, as he…
Throughout this year, many great leaders have been taught, but there were three men who stood out most, for good and for bad. One was Alexander Hamilton, a well known congressmen who displays many great traits, but also had a few times when he wasn’t his best self. Another leader was Andrew Jackson and as he started in poverty, he worked his way up to becoming the president. The people of his time thought he was a superior leader, but he had moments when he could have been more empathetic. The last leader was Henry Clay, a man who was known for bringing people together and keep trying to work his way to the top.…
After being given news of the battle of Lexington and Concord, Alexander Hamilton began to prepare for the war. With an old friend Robert Troup and other King's College men, Hamilton formed a volunteer musket drill unit and, with the assistance of some of his veteran professors, trained a group of young college boys to shoot and fight. Hamilton also began studying artillery with the help from his math professor. Alexander and his volunteers had their first military action on the night of August 23, 1775, when they helped capture twenty-one cannon at a British stockade on the tip of Manhattan Island in New York. The operation was not really dangerous, because the stockade was only protected by one warship, which could do little to stop the land-based raid. Hamilton achieved some measure…
