Algore Ten Points
After watching The Inconvenient Truth and then analyzing the ten things to do that Al Gore recommend that is necessary to do, with the goal of minimizing the emissions of carbon dioxide, I think that this ten points are easy to make. Changing the lights, replacing one regular light bulb with the new compact fluorescent go green lights, can save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide per year, and this changes you can start in the place where you live, for example, my dad last year changed all the lights of my house to minimize costs in the invoice of the CFE, but actually we notice that this lights are, approved to be environmental and helping with the emissions of carbon dioxide, so, not only helps to save the carbon dioxide, but also helps to your family to not spend big amounts of money in light. These little things are very easy to do. The second point of driving less, I think, that for me is difficult, because only the campus is like 15 kilometers from where I live, also I think that Monterrey is not a bike city, the cars drive to fast and to rude, and the is too far from where I live, I thinks that the best option is making carpool with my roommates, going to school, or going out, but that the best thinks that is possible for me, the other options are some difficult. The third point in which we need to recycle more saving 2,400 pound o carbon dioxide per year, I never do this, sometimes when I am in the campus but with waste produce in my house, no, I think this is a easy way to help the environment only we need to have an order with the trash cans and its done, and the difficult thing a think is where to put the trash and where to carry all the waste because, the waste truck is only for general trash. The other point of checking the tires of the vehicles it’s the easiest of this ten points, because someone can do it for you, and while you are fuelling the gas tank, so, in this point there’s no excuse, to don’t have properly inflated the tires. The fifth point, in

Individuals are helping the environment through travel, at home, at work, and in their consumer lifestyles. While traveling they can use other means of transportation or carpool, and at home people are turning off electronics when not in use and overall reducing resource consumption. At work, similar to being at home, turn off electronics when not in use, but also make sure your employer and co-workers are informed of ways they can help. Consumables can be harder as they are things that cost money, where everything previously was a cost-free initiative. Individuals can use reusable bags, change to a more eco-friendly diet, and buy consumables that were produced with environmental standards in mind.…

When it comes to reversing the alarming amounts of man-made CO2, is it too late? In the article “Why Bother?” by Michael Pollan, the author suggests that global warming is the product of modern consumerism and the downfall of human virtue. Energy is at the heart of every modern life. Everything that we do; whether it is, travel, entertainment, powering your home or machinery at work, consumes vast amounts of energy. Therefore, unless Michael Pollan can persuade billions of people to revert back to the 1800’s, he is wasting his time. Energy consumption will continue to climb. How does modern society assuage its appetite for energy? The only way to reduce man-made CO2 is to produce clean energy. “Why Bother?” has many valid points; however,…

With the evolution of hybrid vehicles some consumers have made a commitment to affect the environment in a very positive way. A hybrid car is a vehicle that combines two or more sources of power that can directly or indirectly provide propulsion power. Cities like Seattle have public busses that run on diesel but are also electric and powered by wires throughout the city. Once away from these wires, the diesel engine starts to function as a second contributor to the movement of the bus, but the electric engine is mainly functioning throughout the lifespan of these public busses. This system produces a minimum amount of negative carbon released into the atmosphere. Although cities have adopted this requisite, people are starting to adjust to it as well. Not only does owning a hybrid vehicle benefit the future, but also getting extraordinary mileage to the gallon is economical.…

There are endless ways I could be more sustainable. The obvious would be to install solar panels and water tanks but everybody has already heard of that, so I thought up of some that not many people have thought of. Firstly, I can be more sustainable by taking four minute showers. This will save about 9.5 litres per minute. In addition to this, you also save the energy required to heat that water to shower temperature. Another way I can be sustainable is turning off the lights after leaving a room. Electric lights left on needlessly waste energy and, because I don’t have solar panels, this is burning fossil fuels that pollute the air. Finally I will ride my bike or walk on the bike paths to places close to me such as my dance school. This will ease traffic congestion, keep me healthy and reduce air pollution caused by car…

Individuals can take action by investing on greener energy sources. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has made it easier now more than ever for people to reduce their own carbon footprint by labeling various electrical products ranging from dishwashers to tablets with an Energy Star label. These products meet EPA’s low standards of energy consumption which will in turn reduce the cost of energy bills. As for transportation, carpooling and public transportation that rely on renewable energy are key to reducing your carbon footprint. Less than a decade ago, most vehicles were required to only meet minimal fuel-economy standards (Henson 388), so for those who must commute by car daily, investing in an energy efficient vehicles like electric cars and hybrids is a great way to help cut carbon…

Each person can help conserve energy by walking, riding a bike or carpooling instead of individually driving to help control the pollution to our environment. We can recycle paper, plastic and glass. By doing this we are helping protect some of the trees that are being cut down to make paper. Plastic can be used to make other things and conserve some of the oil that is used to make them. Glass containers can be reused or recycled to make more glass containers. We also reduce consumption of energy resource by turning of lights, fans or televisions when they are not in use. By doing this we will also save money on our individual energy bills.…

Global warming has become key issue all over the world, especially in more over-crowded counties and cities, due to higher volume of emissions being released into the air. In the year 2000, the Carbon Emissions that are released into the air by cars in the United States is 302 Million Metric tons (MMTc) (Environmental). In that same year, there were 190 million licensed drivers in the United States, and 9,743,000 were drivers under the age of 19 (U.S), that’s five percent of the population. I know it doesn’t seem like that much but when you take in consideration the total emissions being released into the air and multiply it by the number of teenage drivers, that will reduce the amount of emissions by 15.1 MMTc. People are desperate to help stop global warming; one way we can do this is to reduce the amount of drivers on the roads and create a more accessible public transportation in rural areas. Increasing the age for driving would also be beneficial to parents of teen drivers due to the fact that insuring a teen driver…

We as humans can do our part personally to contribute in energy conservation and helping to sustain the environment through using more energy efficient appliances which can be a bit costly at first but will save energy, the environment, and ourselves money in the long run. We as consumers can purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs that use less energy and last longer than incandescent light bulbs. And the next time you’re looking to purchase a new vehicle that is fuel efficient like a hybrid car which combines gasoline engines and electric motors. I think knowledge is power when it comes to each person doing their part so feel free to engage in more research on…
