Aligning With Business
Business alignment with Information Technology strategies is important when building stronger, more innovative, and competitive organizations (Naze, 2002). Information technology is a crucial member of a corporate structure, and business strategies are more dependent on information technology today than they have ever been in the past. Corporate leadership and technology management teams can establish relationships that combine the business end of the business with the technology layer. Establishing relationships can enable informed decisions that support the general goals of the business while providing information technology services that support business operations.
Effective IT-business strategies require the cooperation of leadership and information technology management. In large organizations, achieving corporate-wide cooperation can be challenging when there is a large group of leaders with different opinions and objectives. It is important that all leaders understand the general goals and mission of the organization. In the country 's fifth largest public school district, Clark County School District is moving towards reducing redundancy, improve efficiencies in the classroom, and improve student achievement. Education is tied to technology as students must have a strong technical know-how when they graduate and enter the workforce.
To achieve more effective business IT strategies; Clark County School District will need to evaluate the value IT provides the district, the current levels of IT-business integration, and how district processes and services can improve with strategic alignment of IT and business. This review provides a general overview of business and IT alignment within Clark County School District.
