New York City had become a barren, and unforgiving concrete wasteland. The once thriving metropolis had been reduced to a state of dilapidation by years of neglect and the forces of…
Last summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Manhattan in New York. Manhattan is known as the premier destination for New York City tourists, and many people consider it as a “walking city”. A population with over 8.4 million living in NYC (New York City), I came to an understanding that most of my traveling was going to be done by foot. I traveled from Times Square to the Empire State Building and continued onto Central Park right after. And yes, I accomplished this by walking since waiting for the bus or taking a taxi was really an inconvenience. With restaurants, clothing stores, and other necessities at the tip of our fingers, I can see why the locals would travel by foot. The golden age for walking has indeed not expired; in fact, more people are on the streets than before.…
People in often describe New York City as the cultural capital of the world. Many iconic movements have begun in New York City like the Harlem Renaissance, the Hip-Hop takeover, Abstract expressionism…
New York is an amazing city, no wonder everyone talks about New York. It is one of the most agglomerations in the world at the center of the Metropolitan Area. New Yorker’s called us rubber necks looking always up at the tall skyscrapers. The European Colonial period lasted from the 16th century to the early 20th century; European powers such as France and England established colonies throughout the American homeland, and in other geographical locations such as Asia and Africa. Since, these European settlers were the ones who founded our globally recognized cities today, obviously, they had a tremendous influence on the architectural design. The most populated newfound American cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, and New York’s derivation were architecturally focused on human welfare and economics. The baseline of each of these modern-day economic powerhouse cities today originated from the genius and innovative ideals of the European settlers…

New York City has been called "the greatest city in the world" numerous times by its own people and visitors to the city. New York is civilization's greatest world within a city. It gives the overpowering impression of being a magnet and mirror for all of humanity and all that humanity does. For a city so young, New York is home to number of architectural classics. Two of these masterpieces of architecture are the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Both continue the metaphor of New York being a world within a world and possess the latent fusion of form and function, one dependent on the other. The Metropolitan Museum is the epitome of neo-Classical style while the Guggenheim is a modernist powerhouse. Each museum serves the same purpose: displaying humanity's greatest achievements. By comparing and contrasting their history, location, façade and interior, I will investigate how they arrive at this goal in contrasting styles…
dream city for all over the world. If you go to New York city for tourism, you should visit…
I don’t travel very much at all but my parents managed to send me on the trip as a kind of graduation gift, a great traveling experience and the sightseeing part of the trip was amazing. We went toured all over the city, went to see plays, and visited a lot of famous places. I had only seen New York on TV or in pictures but I loved being able to actually go there. Just watching TV or seeing pictures on a screen cannot compare at all to actually standing at the top of the Rockefeller Center and being able to see all of Manhattan and the surrounding area as far as you can see, the same can be said about Times Square. Going to these two places were some of my favorite things that we did, along with seeing the Blue Man Group, going to Chinatown, and walking up and down Fifth Avenue. I had a great time actually being able to see and experience everything for myself, but there are more reasons as to why I loved that trip so much.…

I was born in a small country town in Oklahoma so intially the move to NYC was quite the shocker. I went from a 200 person class to a 2,000 person class in the matter of days. Every morning I found myself disgusted with the traffic and overall hustle and bustle of "the big city". Finally I decided I needed to experience the city.…
