The song intended to inspire women to love their bodies and to take responsibility for their own beauty, which can often be opposite to what society depicts as beautiful. In reality, the song provided its audience with opposite messages as it encouraged women to seek for external validation from boys, since apparently, a woman cannot appreciate her own beauty if this one does not fit males’ standards. Additionally, Meghan Trainor’s song encouraged division between “curvy” and “skinny” people, often referring to the latter group as stupid, superficial, and irrelevant, which goes against the “self-acceptance” concept of the song.
