All Stressed Out Reflection
I found this week’s tutorials interesting especially the All Stressed Out tutorial. I feel like I am stressed out frequently from carrying a full school schedule. I enjoyed learning more about stress and the biological process that occurs when you encounter stressors. It was also interesting receiving my stress test and that it measured only medium, I would have guessed that it would have been evaluated as high given the number of boxes I checked off as pertaining to

This week was little easier for me than the previous weeks. Bonds have always been confusing to me, and I am still a little confused about them. It was interesting to me to learn about the different types of payroll deductions. I never actually knew what took place in payroll departments, so that cleared quite a bit for me. Another thing I never knew was what happened when you use a credit card at a store, now I know that the store records the transaction…

    team b reflection week 2

For week four I enjoyed a couple different aspects that were some what challenging. The Learning team assignment was about wireless technology and that particular area I am very familiar with. The two topics were smartphones and wireless routers. I have been using that technology for the past 10 years in a professional capacity and intimately know the benefits and risks associated with them. However something that I enjoyed and learned was about the six stages of the systems development life cycle. It was very interesting to learn how technology is brought to life from conception to practical use. It is important to know these stages that technology goes through so that we can appreciate what we have and can use it to correlate to any system not just a technological advance but an invention of any kind and the stages that you need to take to successfully get your idea launched into practical use or the marketplace. I am very familiar with PowerPoint and have exclusively used it for any of my presentations. However I was not aware of all the presentation tool available in the marketplace. If I ever made it to an executive level I would probably consider trying one of them but for my particular position PowerPoint is going to be my go to presentation tool. To conclude week 4 was fun and educational. I do not see immediate use for what I learned in week 4 but possible down the road in my career. My personal life will not implement any portion of anything I learned in week 4 because I cannot see a place for it.…

    Blown To Bits Reflection

Hall Abelson, Ken Ledeen, and Harry Lewis: Blown to Bits, Your life, Liberty, and Happiness after the Digital Explosion, 2008, creates awareness of the technological advances the good and bad then points out the political side of these technologies, but also offers ways to protect yourself. The chapter begins with a few moralistic insights towards technology stating that technology is not a gain that is good or bad – Any technology can be used for good or ill, it can empower us or keep us on a short leash. Second I think is what these authors were getting at with the subtitle “Your Life, Liberty, and Happiness after the Digital Explosion”, with all this technology, brings social change that lead us to both risk and opportunities. It’s really up to us and these public organizations as to whether these advances will be used for good or ill and your either going to gain from technology or fall victim unfortunately (p.14). This book is mainly explaining how the digital explosion is reshaping the way we do things. It’s crazy how unaware a lot of people are including myself, technology is forming by the masses and regardless if we want it or not we need to be prepared and actually know what it’s doing to society we live in. The book states – the digital explosion is changing the world as much as printing once did- and some of the changes are catching us unaware, blowing to bits our assumptions about the way the world work. It goes one to state that now instead of mailing pictures all you need to do is place them on a picture site and anyone now can view them or how we give information away just we are offered something in return – And those are merely that are happening today. The explosion, and the social disruption it will create, have barely begun. (p. 3). The authors then discuss another big topic I thought was mind blowing but so true, privacy lost and abandonment. Privacy, now day’s…

Reflection allows an individual to identify the reasons or purpose of understanding the outcome of a particular situation in depth in term of emotions on thought and feeling on the topic area. In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. I have made continues effort in building my confidence in situations that I have felt uncomfortable in.…

The three articles about the learning process and education were very informative. Although the articles were discussing different areas they all focused on keeping students engaged and how to help students learn. It made me think about strategies teachers have used in my experience as a student. Also why I had trouble in some classes or learned very little from other classes. I also learned other strategies I’ve never heard of before.…

Throughout my time reading this book I have really grown fond of Mr. Strobel. He asks the most detailed and thoughtful questions. Questions that I have thought of but I have not taken the time to develop them like he has. I really enjoyed chapters six through ten, but mainly chapter eight. I love psychological perspectives especially relating it back to things such as faith. In the book, there is a section titled “Raving Mad.” This made me really interested in reading about this subject. I continued into diving into this idea of “Raving Mad.” He goes on to explain that we do not “see obvious signs of delusion in Jesus” (Strobel 158.) He wonders what people who had a closer viewpoint of Jesus thought. Many said that they did in fact believe…

The most significant lesson that had an impact on me this week was the second half of the Emergent Leadership Issues lesson. Breaking into groups to go over different emergent leadership issues from subordinate/supervisor perspectives was an eye-opening experience. This lesson is also where I had my “aha” moment. I was up first to play the supervisor role for stress management and was flipping through pages of the student guide to find instructions or steps that would help me communicate with my subordinate. My “aha” moment was when I realized that there are no exact guidelines on how to talk to a subordinate about difficult topics and that I must rely on open communication and my knowledge of resources to effectively be there for my airman. This has changed my problem solving skills because now I have to rely on my subordinate to provide me with enough information to make the proper choice. I must create that trusting relationship if I want them to open up enough to provide that information instead of relying solely on my own knowledge. I realized that there will not always be an official form like the ACA to deal with unexpected situations when it comes to being a supervisor. With this new knowledge, I plan on changing my behavior by becoming more confident in my answers to my subordinates instead of being insecure and relying so heavily…
