The author used comparisons to show that the sun is important in the children’s lives. In the text it says “ And they had written small stories or essays or poems about it:I think the sun is a flower,That blooms for just one hour.” this quote from the text shows that the sun is important to the children because, the children and the teacher were taking the time out of there day to write about the sun, as they had never seen it before. Another reason why I think this quote shows that the sun has importance in their lives is because, they are making a poem and one of the …show more content…
definitions of poem is something that arouses strong emotions so the sun must be important if it is making them feel strong emotions.
The next quote shows that the sun is important in their lives because it brings them joy. In the passage it says “Then, wildly, like
animals escaped from their caves, they ran and ran in shouting circles.” this piece of evidence show that the sun is important in the kids lives because, in my opinion the sentence has a positive connotation. When I think of an animal coming out of a cave I associate that with joy and happiness because, when I think of a cave I think of darkness and fear so when they came out of the “cave” and saw the sun I brought them joy. The second part of the sentence when the say “...They ran and ran in shouting circles” makes me believe that the sun is important to them because they are children that are running around and when children run around it is usually because of happiness or excitement.
Secondly the author used sentence variety to show that the sun is important in the children’s lives.” In the center of it, cupped and huge, was a single raindrop. She began to cry, looking at it. They glanced quietly at the sun.” this shows me that the sun is important because it caused her to become emotional and cry when the sun was starting to go away and the rainy weather was coming back. Also in the passage it says “But they were running and turning their faces up to the sky and feeling the sun on their cheeks like a warm iron” I believe that is shows the sun’s importance because it made them get excited by running around and being able to feel the sun's presence.
Lastly the author used descriptive words/sentences to show that the sun is an important part of the children’s lives. In the text it says “...they played hide & seek and tag, but most of all they squinted at the sun until the tears ran down their faces” i think that this quote shows the sun’s importance in the kids lives because, it gave them enjoyment and it gave them an opportunity to be able to enjoy themselves in the outdoors. Another reason why I think that the sun is important in their lives is because, they are risking their eyesight and they are making themselves cry this shows importance because someone like a person who lives on Earth wouldn’t be doing this because it an everyday occurrence. The last quote used to show the sun importance is“ they put their hands up to that yellowness and that amazing blueness and they breathed of the fresh, fresh air and listened and listened to the silence which suspended them in a blessed sea of no sound and no motion” this shows the sun’s importance because they are using words with positive connotations like amazing, fresh and blessed. This also shows the sun’s importance because they are describing a peaceful situation.
In conclusion Ray Bradbury uses author’s craft to show that the sun is an important part of the children’s lives. The story shows that the sun is important because they used positive connotation, they showed that it brought them joy and they also showed that sadness was brought when it started raining again. This story can connect to someone who maybe has been trying to go on a trip for a while and when the day come that they are going to go their flight is canceled. As I reread the story the claim became more clear to me.
