Ectothermic animals are animals whose body temperature is affected by their surroundings. This means that if the environment is cold the animal will be cold. If the environment is warm the animal will be warm. This is because the animal doesn’t have the capability of regulating its body systems to keep a constant body temperature. When an ectothermic animal is cold, its heart rate will lower. When the animal is warmer, the heart rate will raise – as long as the temperature isn’t sufficiently high to harm the animal. For me Dan Lewis's view of "life being a smorgasbord" does apply. Life's is like a food buffet with many experiences, some you may like and some you may not but that's okay because you will try them all anyway. When you look at your life you should think of where you are now, where your going and your accomplishments. An example of my life beiong a smorgasbord is when my 7-year-old twin brothers were born. They had been through multiple heart surgeries, many months in Dayton Childrens and still to this day are fully functioning. They were born with chagre syndrom. You go to bed on eday thinking everything is okay, your life is on track and it'll all be thge same tommorrow, the next day and the day after that, but then you wake up and youre…

Spring is the most beautiful season of the year because the sun gleams its sparkling rays of light on the vibrantly colored blooms of the flowers smiling beneath it. Every day is a joyful and sunny day for the flowers dancing and singing happily in the fresh air outside the window. I peacefully admire their exquisite colors and positive qualities from a distance, wishing that I could be outside soaking in their joyful presence from the sunshine above. All of my day dreaming is over with. The stack of assignments on my desk aren’t magically going to do themselves. For once, I would love to have a joyful presence fill the sadness that darkens the flowers in my school. We never have hardly any joy or laughter to make us happy. Our sun is slowly…

The poem, “Lilies” which was written by Mary Oliver in 1935 was one which I found to be rather compelling. In this poem, Ms. Oliver strategically uses the metaphor of a lily while also describing the longing need to live a carefree, desolate but yet fulfilling life. When first observing this poem, one might swiftly conclude that Oliver is referring to living this simple life without the stress or confusion of an ordinary human lifestyle. Although this indeed may be true, Oliver’s continuous allusion to the lilies may imply another interpretation.…

You only live once tells me to live in the present and to strive hard for my dream. There is no second chance to live again, so I do not want to regret my life. Dream big and live strong is the ideal way to live. For example, running for officers for any club is not something scary. I learned to not be afraid to lose and just give it a try, otherwise I will not even have a chance to get a position.…

“Love is how you stay alive” (Albom 133). This was a quote in Tuesdays with Morrie. It was one of many that I made connections with people in my own life. People that I have looked up to for wisdom and relief that everything is going to be okay. Morrie was a man with good morals, and he believed that people need to devote themselves to their community and their self in order to have a meaning of life. Throughout the book, I believed the theme was about knowing what is important and learn to love one another.…

    2. People may say why make much of miracle? But for the author, everything around him is miracles. When he is walking down the streets of Manhattan, when he’s seeing the sight of the roofs of houses toward the sky, when he’s walking along the beach, when he’s standing under a tree, when he’s talking and sleeping with his loved one, when he’s eating dinner with his family, when he’s looking at strangers, when he’s watching the busy honey-bees, when the animals feed in the fields, when the stars are shining so bright, when the beautiful crescent moon is on the sky, miracle is happening at every moment. The whole world is a miracle. As a whole is a beautiful miracle too, but when you see each thing separately, they’re other miraculous things also. Every hour and every space are miracles. The sea and the fishes swimming, the rock, the wave, ships and men on them are all miracles. Then, he asks the audience, “What other every day, yet extraordinary, miracles can you find around you?”…
