Kansas the sunflower state, is located in the Midwest. South of Nebraska, east of Colorado, north of Oklahoma and west of Missouri. This state has four distinct seasons with very cold winters and hot summers. The state is named after the Kansa native American tribe. Kansas was the first settled by European Americans in the 1830s.It was in the 1850's when people started to migrate and settled in the Midwest due to political wars over slavery .
Neighboring states rushed to this territory to determine whether Kansas would become a free state or a slave state. Kansas is one of the most productive agriculture states, producing food such as wheat and sunflowers which is where the states name is derived,” The Sunflower State”.
I have personal knowledge of the region as I lived in a city suburb of Kansas City called Overland park, which is a very popular city in the state. Currently, more than 40 companies have their corporate headquarters in Overland Park Kansas. Telecommunications firm, Sprint's world headquarters occupies 240 acres of the city and employs nearly 8,000 people.
When I lived in Overland Park I attended Blue Valley North High School, home to the Mustangs, this school occupies the #2 school in academic achievement for the entire state of Kansas. A cool fact about this place, Clark Kent's home town was Smallville KS which was in the first
