Alone On The Hilltop

The movie smoke signals and the literature packet connect in a few different ways. One way is they connect through the four stages of life. The four stages of life are childhood, adolescence,adulthood, and spirituality. In the reading ¨ Alone On The Hilltop¨ the character went through the four stages did just like victor did in the movie ¨Smoke Signals”.

The first two stages of life are childhood and adolescence. Victor and Thomas went through both changes in the movie ¨Smoke signals¨. In the movie Victor's father was an alcoholic, this made Victor's mom very mad and she told him that he can't keep using all the money. Victor’s childhood stage was hard because his father had left him and his mother all alone. Victor looked up to his father very much. In the scene his father left Victor came running out of the house yelling “don't leave dad, don't leave.” This shows that victor loved his father and trust in him. Another example of childhood from the movie was the fire on fourth of july. The fire was a big part of victor's and Thomas life because his father is the one started the fire that killed thomas family.
After victor's father left him and his mom, Victor had so much anger built up in him. In the movie Thomas came up to Victor and said “Hey Victor what happened to your dad” Victor got so mad that he jumped on top of and started to beat him up. VIctor was getting all the anger out on Thomas. In the story “Alone On The Hilltop” the narrator was on a Spiritual Adventure to become a man. During his adolescence he was alone for 96 hours in the book it says “ I was 96 hours away from becoming a man.” On this spiritual Adventure he had to find out what his job and life would be. Another form of adolescence is him growing up in the story it says “the medicine man Had also left a piece pipe with me.” this shows that he is moving through the stages because the pipe is used for smoking and adults smoke not young
