March On Washington: This event took place on August 28, 1963. 250,000 people attended this march it was the largest demonstration nation's capital ever seen. It even made television. The reason for this march was for racial unrest & civil rights. The march on Washington was represented by a coalition of civil right organizations. The “Big Six” organizers were James Farmer (CORE), Martin Luther King (SCLC), John Lewis (SNCC), A. Phillip Randolph (BSCP),Roy Wilkins(NAACP), and Whitney Young Jr.(National Urban League). Nationwide outrage was sparked by media coverage. The police in Birmingham Alabama actions was attack dogs & fire hoses against protestors.
Watts Riot: This event took place from August 11,1965 to August 17,1965. This riot raged for six days. Over 40m dollars in property damage, many injured , many arrested, & many deceased. This all started when Marquette Frye a motorist was pulled over & arrested by Lee W. Minikus who was a highway patrol officer. But he was arrested on terms of suspicion of driving while intoxicated. At the scene of Frye's arrest strained tension between officers & a crowd that erupted in violent exchange. Rioters overturned burned automobiles, and stores were damaged & so on. This was the most violent riot in Los Angeles until 1992.
Montgomery Bus Boycott: This event took place on December 1, 1995. A evening during rush hour in Montgomery Alabama a 42 year old African American woman took her sit on the bus on her way home. Before reaching her destination the bus driver instructed her & two other people to move to the back of the bus. She refused this bold woman name was Rosa Parks. By her refusal she was a arrested for violating a city law. African Americans couldn’t sit in the first ten seats Mrs. Parks sat in a row behind the last White seating only area.
