Alpha Beta Kapa Research Paper
The motto for Alpha Beta Kapa is "Faciemus," which is Latin for "We Shall Build". “We shall build” to myself, means hard work, dedication, and going above the standards. Education in this instance is the building block that enables an individual to succeed and build. Education was something that was not of importance in my household when I was growing up. It was proven by the fact that I have four siblings and only two us graduated from high school. Now I am 35 years old and have two young daughters that look up to me. I have made no excuses when it comes to hard work and my education. Education is extremely important to myself now and for my future.
With a GPA of 3.90 I believe I meet the requirements to be accepted into the Alpha Beta Kapa.
I have shown not only the drive but also the dedication that has set me apart academically from my peers. My GPA is proof that I have the ability not only to achieve, but also that I have the commitment to reach above the standards. Currently in Texas the minimum grade to pass is a D average. Which means a student will pass if their grades are between 60-69%. I have personally made it a goal of mine not to conform to that standard even though it is acceptable.
Attendance and punctuality are two major factors that are focused on, and in some classes it is worth 30% of our grade. My attendance of 96% shows that I am present for lectures, but also that I am punctual. This quality is not only important in academics but it is a quality that most employers look for in an employee. My time management skills and my prioritization on my education are proven in my attendance. All these attributes that I possess have proven that I am a candidate to become a part of Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society, and look forward to being a part of it.
