Alpha Delta Pi Sisterhood
In 1851, Alpha Delta Pi became the world’s first secret society for collegiate women, setting the foundation for the entire sorority system as we know it today. Since its establishment at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, our sorority has expanded to more than 155 collegiate chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has proudly initiated over 260,000 members.

For 166 years, our sisters have been guided by ADPi’s founding principles of sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, and service to others, upholding the legacy of being the “First. Finest. Forever.”

Our open motto, “We Live For Each Other,” exemplifies the uniquely strong sisterhood of Alpha Delta Pi. Whether it is here at UCSB, at another chapter, or even abroad, sisters of ADPi

As an alumna of prominent educational institutions – Ladies’ College and Mount Holyoke College – I consider myself fortunate to be a part of a community of women who are invested in the personal and professional development of each other. Over the years, the resources afforded to me through these institutions have played a critical role in supporting my intellectual and personal growth. At Mount Holyoke College, conversations with fellow students enabled me to develop a cosmopolitan view of the world; be it through debates on intersectional feminism at the dinner table or collaborations to form social movements on campus, my interactions with this intellectual community of women have been influential in shaping my identity as a scholar and a citizen of the world. Moreover, the enduring relationships I have formed with alumnae, have informed my belief on the importance of female mentorship. These relationships’ have cemented my conviction of the need to build stronger connections between students and alumnae and prompted my active engagement in the Sri Lankan chapter of the Mount Holyoke Alumnae group, as well as the Ladies’ College Old Girl Association. My role as assistant coach for the Ladies’ College debate team is reflective of…

By going to visit the table I learned that “My Sister’s Keeper” is geared toward minorities such as myself, but they are not limited to minorities which means any woman is welcomed. Also they stated that they have banquets and events designed to lift up our fellow peers at all times. Out of the entire three minute presentation the one thing that stuck with me the most was that in this organization they do not refer to others or themselves as “females”, everyone is called women. Hearing that gave me a sense of hope that women today still have some sort of self-worth. The next step I will take in this organization is to be committed stay involved in the different events that are associated with them. By signing my name on that sheet I committed a portion of my time to them. I will attend…
