Alternariol Research Paper
Alternariol (AOH) is a toxic metabolite produced by Alternaria alternata and A. tenuissima, which grow on corn, rice, fruits, vegetables and oilseed. Mycotoxins are biologically active secondary fungal metabolites found as contaminants of food- and feedstuff [1].
Alternariol (0.8 μM) inhibited P4 secretion. Alternariol (1.6 μM) significantly reduced cell viability [1]. Alternariol (0.8 μM) reduced the expression of P450scc protein. Alternariol (1.6 μM) significantly reduced the abundance of α-tubulin and also clearly affected actin protein concentrations. Alternariol specifically inhibited P4 secretion in cultured porcine granulosa cells [1]. Twelve hours of light exposure was sufficient to decrease significantly the production of alternariol

The lecture I attended for the Learn outside of the classroom assignment was After Learning: Education on a Hot Planet by Dr. Bennett Ramsey. He discussed ways in where our culture should provide students with the knowledge, skills and perspective necessary to meet today’s challenges. He stated that the world of education is rooted in economic root of fantasy growth for prosperity, but we are not growing because we are hitting limits. Growth economically can be best productive when in a world worth living in. As he was talking, he kept saying that how everything is based off of economics and that we should think of moral integrity. We only think of ourselves, and we have to realize as humans, we are the most intelligent species, so we have to think of the animals, and how our actions affect the ecosystem. He gave an example of how we are focused on ourselves that we are affecting others countries. In the Foxconn plant which is located in China had at least fourteen workers committed suicide due to the harsh work conditions, so there were suicide nets placed outside of the windows, and the workers were forced sign pledges not to commit suicide. He also stated that Earth is pushed beyond its limits; we are using 1.5 million of the planet’s resourced causing us to be in an environmental crisis. We are in an anthropogenic age meaning the activities we do in our daily lives affects the ecosystem, which will eventually hurts us in the…

At high sustained temperatures, natural aromatic compounds can easily be decomposed after being evaporated. Thus, eugenol can be easily decomposed at atmospheric boiling point. In order to prevent this from occurring, the boiling point of the compound should be lowered. In steam distillation process, the boiling point are lowered by the addition of water in an partially vacuumed container, through Raoult’s Law. Eugenol and water has different vapor pressure. Water has a vapor pressure of 760 mmHg while Eugenol has a vapor pressure of 4 mmHg. Thus, the total vapor pressure in the closed system is 764 mmHg, resulting in lower boiling point. Using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation(ln (P1 / P2) = (ΔH / R) (1/T2 - 1/T1)), the boiling point of the…

The normal table sugar doesn’t have antioxidant property. However, naturally occurring sugar alcohol, called erythritol comes with a plus point that it has a strong antioxidant property. Additionally, as erythritol provides 60 70 percent sweetness as sucrose, it can be efficaciously used as a sugar substitute. Its caloric value is 0.2 kcal/gm so giving 95 percent lower calories than table sugar. Recent research says that erythritol acts as an antioxidant and may primarily help in protecting against hyperglycemia-induced vascular damage. The scientific data also calls erythritol as a ‘diabetic-safe’ sweetener.…

The motivation of criminals encompasses more than one common denominator, however, the degree of culpability and causation are within close proximity of one another. People every day engage in illicit acts for a myriad of reasons that run the gamut from white-collar crimes such as embezzling large sums of money to retail thefts. Gang related and drug-crimes that result in violence have plagued metropolitan areas throughout American. There is never any justification for taking someone’s life unless it is in self-defense, but people kill indescribably for material items or money. Is it the Americans insatiable appetite and relentless pursuit of obtaining wealth and prosperity in achieving the American dream? Unfortunately, yes. For some…
