There are several types of alternative sources of energy. For example, some experts claim that the technology and safety aspects of some sources of energy such as solar power, wind turbines, nuclear power and hydropower needs to be improved. The first alternative energy source might be solar energy because it is renewable energy that can be collected in everyday life. Although this source of energy is very easy to find and collect, the cost of the equipment required to convert solar power into electricity is quite high. It may be that this equipment is not yet produced on a large enough scale. Therefore, there are not many countries using solar energy for main energy purposes. Moreover, technologies are currently not expert enough to use the solar energy effectively. However, this source of energy is predicted to be the most valuable and renewable source in the future.
The second interesting source might be biogas. The cost of this gas is obviously low when compare with fossil fuel. In addition, the consumption of petrol is now reaching the stage where supplies will soon run out. Searching for new fuel energy is essential because using too much petrol is going to be a cause of environmental problems, especially geological problems. Also, the price of fossil energy is a considerable factor for changing to use natural gas instead. According to the research of many environmental institutes from many developed countries, if people could use biogas instead of fossil fuel, they would economize many expenses and also could automatically decrease the use of fossil fuel, that means the earth might be automatically recovered. From the point of suitability, not every alternative source of energy can be used effectively in each country in the world, only some of these energy sources will be appropriate. There are many factors to consider in determining a suitable source of energy such as the environment, weather, topography, country’s location, etc. For example, solar energy is absolutely appropriate in Middle-eastern countries because the countries’ location are located in the warm area, where they have to face to the sun light very much. As this point, it is obviously worthwhile to create some organization for applying or adapting to use solar energy effectively. The government may seriously provide funding to develop some tools and improve some professional staff to get the most profit from using this kind of energy. In conclusion, it is obviously true that people have used most non-renewable energy and now these sources of energy are running out. Therefore, people should encourage themselves trying to use renewable sources of energy effectively. In addition, governments should carry out systematic research into the method of using different sources of energy to use this energy efficiently and also concern about the balance between profits and disadvantages from using those sources of energy.

Alternative energy source is defined as any energy source that will replace oil and coal. These sources include solar power, windmills, natural gas, and nuclear energy. These alternatives alone will not help save our planet. However, the potential behind these alternatives is exciting and hopeful. Alternative energy sources are those that are different from the typical sources we use today such as fossil fuels, nuclear and falling water; Alternatives can be solar, geothermal, hydrogen, gas, fusion, or any other energy source that a new technology could utilize (Tillery, Enger, & Ross, 2009, p. 69). Active Solar application is an…

There are many ways to conserve natural resources, all we need to do is look around and find a way to minimize the usage of natural resource that we using everyday. For example, turn off the lights when we leave the house; minimize the waste produced by buying less packaged goods and reusable products, and recycling. These are little things we can do to help, and these does not take much effort to do; however, if everybody does the same, we can still make that difference. In the big picture, we can consider using more renewable natural resources such as hydro-power and solar-power. These energy resources are the best ways to conserve natural resource such as fossil fuel. Fortunately, many energy conservative products have been invented: hybrid or electric cars and energy-efficient home appliances. These are the reflections of people’s concern towards the natural resources depletion. On the whole, we need to start do our share to conserve the energy and resource as part of our responsibility to the natural…

Over the last few decades our world has seen a migration or a swift transition, if you will, from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy. The book, The Great Transition, by Lester R. Brown, is an account of that very change our world has seen with respect to the global energy revolution. The book details the shift in philosophy different countries have embraced over the years, going from the conventional oil, nuclear power and coal to the less conventional and more exciting renewable energies. As the world tries to shift away from the use of fossil fuels due to the ongoing increase in pollution and impending climate changes new ways to minimize the impact on our environment are continuously being created. However, these changes cannot…

In 1977, the President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter, advocated for the use of alternative energy to the American people “because we are now running out of gas and oil, we must prepare quickly to strict conservation [of fossil fuels] and to the use of coal and permanent renewable energy sources, like solar power.” More than thirty years later his announcement still rings true and is relevant. In fact, the current situation of non-renewable fuels is worse than in 1977. This is because American and global society is becoming more mobile and active, which is causing fossil fuels to be diminished at a higher rate than ever. Scientific discovery like the innovation of steam power and river power in the nineteenth century was a catalyst for meeting energy needs. Almost two hundred years later, the time to update energy solutions has arrived. Even though people disagree, alternative energy is the correct solution to the problem of diminishing fossil fuels. Therefore it is imperative that alternative energy be used more often than non-renewable resources due to their renewability, benefits to the environment and humankind, and its ability to stimulate the economy with an independent energy market.…

Energy is the foundation of industrialized world; without energy, life as we know it would cease to exist. The yearly energy and fuel consumption rates have risen dramatically within the last years. This phenomenon is a direct result of globalization pressures, the international information network we call the Internet, and a population that seems to be hitting the dangerous upswing of the Malthusian curve. Although there is not yet a current shortage of conventional fuels, such as reserves of coal, oil and other fossil fuels are limited and non-renewable. In addition, the common practice of burning oil, coal, and other assorted hydrocarbons has resulted in hazardous environmental conditions such as global warming, acid rain and dangerously high air pollution levels. This and other environmental disasters have brought about a demand for alternative fuel and energy sources that are convenient, environmentally friendly, and economically viable. The U.S. Department of Energy defines alternative fuel as fuel that is essentially non-petroleum and yields energy security and environmental benefits. Following are some of the fuels the Department of Energy currently recognizes as alternative fuels methanol, hydrogen, liquid and compressed natural gas, and electric fuel. Alternative sources of energy are classified as energy provided from sources other than fossil fuels. This includes but is not limited to nuclear power, solar power, hydropower and biomass. Currently, many of these alternate sources are in use, but unfortunately they are underused or underdeveloped because of perceived shortcomings or drawbacks. While some of these fuel and energy sources may indeed lack the efficiency or cost effectiveness of the conventional fuel and energy, having a clean living planet far outweighs the cost of clean energy.…

Solar energy is of the most resourceful sources of alternative energy. It is the most important of the non-conventional sources of energy, because it does not pollute the earth. "One of the reasons for this is that the total energy we receive each year from the sun is around 35,000 times the total energy used by man." (Alternative energy sources) Solar energy can be converted directly or indirectly into alternative forms of energy. People use solar energy for many things, but most of it is used for heating, cooling, transportation and the generation of electricity. When the sun 's rays are…

The inevitable consequence of fossil fuels is that they are finite and will run out eventually. At the moment resources like oil and gas are at premium rates. Whether this is being driven by market forces or these resources are genuinely becoming scarce is debatable. What isn't debatable is that governments and the general population are beginning to feel the pinch of these prices and are looking for alternatives. Solar power and wind energy have been popular ways to create energy for many centuries but have been largely ignored by governments and utilities companies because they were reliant on the elements which, in a word, were unreliable. However for individual properties in the right environments they are useful. They have the added advantage that they are renewable and do not give off greenhouse gases that harm the environment. This article will look at some of the issues around solar power and wind energy.…
