 III. Abstract:
Diseases and wound infections cause by the bacteria Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are serious threats to the society, causing minor to major health afflictions. Certain medicines and health practices were tried to cure and eradicate this said bacterium but these bacteria continue to grow. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Sambong leaves, Onion, and Takip Kuhol extract as an antibacterial agent for the said pathogens. The three bacteria Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were subjected to five treatments: Treatment A with pure Sambong leaves extract, Treatmetn B with Onion extract, Treatment C with pure Takip Kuhol leaves extract, Treatment D with Amoxicillin, and Treatment E, the control setup, with distilled water (sample free-disc). From the Microbiological Assay Plate Testing, the zone of inhibition was determined. The collection of Sambong leaves, Onion and Takip Kuhol leaves was grinded and was submerged in a 95% ethyl alcohol. After 24 hours of submersion, the treatments were put into water bathing for the evaporation of ethyl alcohol. The extract produced was then brought to the testing center and was tested through a Microbiological Assay Plate Testing. The zones of inhibition were determined after the test. Results show that the tested extract inhibited the bacteria S. typhimurium, S. aureus and Ps. Aeruginosa. In agreement with the findings amd observation, the researchers concluded that the Sambong leaves, Onion, and Takip Kuhol leaves extract is effective as an antibacterial to S. typhimurium, S. aureus and Ps.

Esters are also strong antifungal agents, and two of these are abundant in oregano oil, namely linalyl acetate and geranyl acetate. Together, these substances make oregano oil a great natural alternative to treat infections. These substances also made the researchers see the potential of oregano oil as a possible…

Herbs and spices have been used for many years for their health benefits and antimicrobial properties (Lai & Roy, 2004). Cilantro, an herb found in many ethnic food dishes, has been shown to have an antibacterial effect on Salmonella choleraesuis due to the compound dodecanal found in the leaves. Dodecanal was found to be twice as potent as the antibiotic gentamicin that is commonly prescribed for Salmonella infections (Kubo, Fujita, Kubo, Nihei, & Ogura, 2004). The antimicrobial properties of cilantro have also been demonstrated against the bacteria’s Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli (Marsh & Arriola, 2009).
