Most of the public thought that if Amanda Knox was guilty of the murder of Meredith Kercher, she was a psychopath. Psychopath is a term used to describe violent predators who do not feel remorse (King, 2016, p. 491). However, psychopaths are a subgroup of people with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). As defined by King (2016), ASPD is a “psychological disorder characterized by guiltlessness, law-breaking, exploitation of others, irresponsibility, and deceit” (p. 490). If Knox did murder Meredith Kercher, she would have all of these characteristics. Throughout the investigation, Amanda Knox showed no signs of feeling guilty. If she did commit the murder, she broke the law and also exploited her boyfriend by making him a suspect. She also took no responsibility for her actions and lied to the police. However, Knox was declared innocent so experts can not diagnose her as a psychopath (or with ASPD) based on the murder of Kercher because she did not commit the
