Amanda Wilson: An Independent Woman
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” -John Quincy Adams I, Lawson Granieri paddle my own canoe, but the woman who taught me this way is my mother, Clary Lawson McCall. She has had struggles throughout her life but she is very independent. My mother has been and independent woman through her life, and paddles her own canoe. As a child, my mother was a straight-A student, and was always a hard worker. In highschool, she was a popular, but smart girl. She was never known as one of the mean girls, she was always the nicest one there, and very tactful. Her best friend, Amanda Wilson, was also popular, not as nice as her, but still a kind person. She was independent, and always
had the courage to do anything, and played many sports to help her scholarship. She got many scholarships for college, one for academics, tennis, and water skiing. She worked incredibly hard in college, but college lead her to her most difficult and hardest time in her life. When My mother was eighteen years old she went out with her friends and took a sip of her first beer, and she eventually became an alcoholic and she became addicted to smoking. She was addicted to both for 9 years, but then she went to Alcoholics Anonymous and got off of alcohol. She was still addicted to smoking though. She met my father when she was 31, and she got off of smoking with him, and she hasn’t smoked or drank any alcohol in 16 years. Six years ago, my Mother started Real Estate, and she has improved and gone in the top two in the state. When my mother started, she had finished 3 months of training. Her first year, she only sold 3 houses. Actually, that was satisfactory because usually the average realtor will sell one to zero houses their first year. Her second, she sold around 6, and now, she sells many, and I am extremely proud. Today, she is a stay at home mom, but she is always signing contracts and talking on the phone with her clients and other people. Also, she helps set an example for beginner realtors. She is one of the best realtors I have know throughout my life, and I have known many, and she always does things her way. Usually, many realtors will dress in nice pants or a skirt with a blouse, but my mother likes to dress in high fashion, and now others at her work are dressing like her because she steps out of the line.
