Amazon Jungle Painting Analysis
The photo on the title page is the painting I will be dissecting for elements, and principles that I have learned in the class. I could not find out the name of the artist; I could not find out the size or name of the painting either. The reason I chose this painting is that I believed it to be the most interesting visually and the easiest to interpret. The painting is in the Artisan’s Loft gallery in Staunton, but the painting had no tag beside it. I believe the painting is a fictional landscape of the Amazon Jungle. I do know that the painting is on canvas and is made with acrylic paint. Firstly, I will be talking about the elements I found in this painting. The artist uses mostly curved lines in this painting, this definitely keeps the …show more content…
I mentioned before that the artist made this piece unified through the lines, shape, color and the perspective. The artist was also able to create some variety by adding some warmer colors on some of the plant-life. The artist also added some color to the birds in the painting as well. The other colors in the painting help create variety as well. The balance in this painting is asymmetrical, the artist does this by centering the viewer’s attention to the middle of the painting. The river and the larger birds center the viewer’s attention. The painting’s scale was nice, lots of detail in the foreground with bigger objects succeeded by smaller objects with less detail in the background. The scale helped the depth of the painting, but I felt the painting was unproportioned. Most of the painting was devoted the foreground and what space was left over was devoted to the background. The painting was clearly developed thoroughly by the artist, the artist used most of the topic discussed in elements of design and used some of the principles of design as well. I really came to understand this painting better through this project. I also like how I am able to look at a painting and be able to see the foundation of the painting. I believe that this painting has really grounded the things I have learned so far. The project also encourages me to learn more and maybe go back to look at the painting and see if I have an even greater understanding the next time. While finishing this project I just wonder if the artist’s use the elements and principles because they are taught too or is it just natural for people to use these things in their

What first catches the viewer 's eyes are the vivid colors used in the painting. Ultimately what jumps out the most is the man on the right 's red robe. The artist intended this for a reason, discussed later. The room where the men are standing is front lit. Also the atmosphere is not hazy. There is no hint of sffumato. It is very much unlike the Romantic works produced earlier in the century. Rather the edges of the figures and of other objects in the picture plane are clearly defined. The artist "renders every object in the painting with meticulous clarity" (Smith 1). To see this work in person is really quite impressive. The painter has achieved a great sense of depth in the painting, as well as a strikingly realistic quality. The picture taken for this paper from the Albright-Knox 's web page simply does not do this work justice. One 's experience of standing in front of this painting is that of awe. The artist has depicted everything in the scene so realistically, and yet has made it look better than it probably did in real life. Everything in the painting has a rich, glowing quality about it.…

One of the major reasons I was very interested in this painting was the excellent use of colors. William uses these colors to show movement and to depict a sense of realism to his viewers. He uses a combination of warm, bright and dull colors to provide beauty to the painting. It is a realistic painting in which we can see realistic objects like the clouds, the grass, the earth, sand, mud, little stones/rocks, shrubs, water and a whole lot. Looking at this painting at a glance, I thought it was a photograph; that is how realistic it is. William uses colors in little…

Also, if you look very closely at the painting, you can see some brush strokes that the painter made. I like that because the viewer can see how thick the paint is and how you move onto the canvas. Lastly, I like how there is light around the top of the painting. I love how the artist used different colors and shades. This art piece goes very well in my family's dining room, in my opinion.…

I personally like this work of art. It is very pretty and the colors in it are very bold. The blossoming plum trees remind me of spring because they are blooming in this print. There are very few sharp lines in the work but the artist has still been able to give a realistic look to the painting. By keeping the sizes of the objects in the painting proportionate to what they would be if you were to look at them in real life he has added a sense of realism to the painting. Much of the painting has a very geometric shape such as the windows, fireplace, baseboards and such. The coats however have a more organic shape, hanging freely and loosely on their hangers hooked to the fireplace mantle. Aside from the view outside the window and of the coats hanging upon the mantle the space in the painting is fairly empty.…

The art piece is representational, the lines are sharp and there are various and different shapes. The texture is smooth and there has been more than one colour that has been used in the painting. The tone shows that the sun is on him even though there is no sun shown in the portrait. Space and depth has been used as you can tell the objects are further away and the ones that are closer up and in detail.…

In this essay I will attempt to analyze the artwork named “Beguiling Lure “ by Isaac Talley , 2009. The medium of this artwork is acrylic and oil on canvas. The composition is simple with the main focus being a dangling object and a portrait of a single bird. The multi coloring of the background is bright and soft with dark and light hues. The artist was able to deliver the paint onto the canvas in different directions and angles which gives the appearance of overlapping colors, roughness and an uneven texture. There is a small horizontal space that has been left blank and untouched in the middle of the canvas that provides a dividing line separating the upper portion of the painting from the lower portion. Even though there is no similarities in the main two subjects in the painting the artist brings balance, proportion and unity to his work by using the same background colors and patterns from top to bottom.…

I had the pleasure of visiting Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. I was even lucky enough to have Ulrika show us some of the art around the museum. We toured ‘The George Riabov Collection of Russian Art’ and saw many beautiful pieces of art. Perhaps my favorite piece of art that I viewed was “Stage for Korobochka.” This is a tempera and gouache on board painting created by Serge Soudeikine.…

The bright vivid colors attracted me to this work; I found it interesting how the artist played off of mostly reds and blues and I liked how my attention was immediately drawn to the center of the painting. All of the people seemed to be involved in the miraculous birth of the Jesus. The greatest aesthetic strength of this painting is its use of vivid color, the aesthetic weakness I found was the lack of the artistic use of shadow. I…

    Monkey And Parrot Essay

As you can see most of the painting is token up by the woman’s head. Then with the additions to the painting including the plants, monkey, and bird, more space is taken up. To me I think the plant would still take up a lot of space if the animals were not painted on to the portrait because of the length of them. In the painting you can tell that it is lighter in some areas. If you pay attention to the monkey his fur gets lighter as it gets to his stomach. On the women’s face you can tell that some areas are lighter than others . If you pay attention to the monkey his fur gets lighter as it gets to his stomach. On the women you can see that she has many light spots but she is mostly lighter on her forehead and also with the parrot its face is lighter than its body. With color you can see how the artist used a lot of green, that’s including the plants, parrot, the rope looking thing in the woman’s hair, her shirt collar, and the wall in the background. The artist also uses black for the monkey’s fur and the woman’s hair. Overall the information I provided for this painting I kind do think the artist did a good job on and it is a good looking…

When first viewing the painting, I felt passion and happiness as well as a sense of welcoming. Observing the yellows, oranges, and reds used in this piece made me feel this way because of the sense of warmth that advances in the painting. However, it also made me feel intimidated because of the confined space and loftiness of the trees. It looks as if the trees are in flames and parts of it are falling to the ground burning which gives the viewer a feeling of uneasiness. The warm colors that are in the foreground and middle ground along with the cool colors receding in the background give the impression of vast distance within the painting. Although you can’t feel the texture of the painting, you can see he used light brush strokes; perhaps to give a sense of realism in nature.…

Another reason why this painting is a masterpiece is because of the meaning of the painting. Nobody really understands the exact meaning of what this art represents. I heard some critics express that everyone wonders what the lady in black is starring at, and why is she so important in this painting. People also question the monkey that she is holding, what can the monkey mean. To me this painting represents tranquility, and peace. Just looking at this painting I could see that everyone is relaxed. Everyone one is just enjoying a quiet sunny day with almost everyone looking in the same direction. The way the people are dressed show that they are sophisticated people. I enjoy watching this painting because - feel as thought I can just live in a place like that. This painting is really good for a decoration piece in your house. Your visitors…

The first principle I will point out is the use of movement, this artwork at first moves yours eyes to the center of the piece even though there is not a lot of detail to the center. The second principle is balance, this art work is asymmetrical because there is no way to divided the artwork so it is equal drawings on both side, however the artwork does not seem to have one side heaver then the other. The last principle I want to point out is the artwork’s use of proportion, everything in this artwork seems to have equal proportion to one another in the sense that no one thing seems to have more oven an importance then another.…

    Harmony and Variety

In Wassily Kandinsky’s Improvisation 21A painting, the artist uses cool colors, such as blue, violet, and green. As well as using a few warm colors to both harmonize and add variety to the piece. There is unity throughout the painting, because I see small shapes of either crowds of people or buildings side by side to make small towns throughout the painting. The small shapes that I see in this painting are Geometric shapes, like triangles and rectangles. The biggest focal point that I see every time I look at the painting is the darker blue on the right side that looks to me like a seahorse. This would be the biomorphic shape that I see in this painting. I can see so many different images throughout this piece of art and the dark, contoured lines just make everything stand out. There is such a variety of different “pieces” to this painting, such as people sitting on a mountain top watching a storm, a city night, and sea creatures. I love how the reds are throughout the entire painting, bringing it all together in harmony. Abstract art tells so many stories to the viewer, and each story is different for each viewer. I see abstract art and how the variety of shapes harmonizes the entire piece to balance it out. This piece brings so many things to life, but the blue seahorse definitely dominates the entire structure of this painting. I see a lot of repetition in the lines of this painting. There is variety in the lines Kandinsky is using, not all lines are straight, there are several lines that are zig zagged, and swirled.…
