Amber Ordoway's The Giver

Amber Ordoway had known for quite a while that she wasn't attracted to guys, but she hadn't told anyone. It wasn't out of fear of being ridiculed or seen as some sort of show, it was simply because it was no one's god damn business. But finally, at the first party of junior year she came out of the closet, metaphorically of course. It had all happened because of one Matthew Jonas, a sleazy senior guy who probably should've known better than to hit on her.

She was simply standing around, a red solo cup filled with some sort of alcohol in her hand, talking to one of her friends. It just so happened that this friend was Isaac Lahey, or in her terms, baby beta. Isaac and really the rest of the pack had their suspicions about Amber's sexuality, but they never bothered asking because it simply didn't matter to them what gender she preferred. Matthew Jonas, whom both of the juniors already disliked came swaggering over—yes, swaggering—completely drunk off his ass.

"Hello,"
Like I said before, I'm not interested."

Seeming to give up, and slightly frightened by the fact that Isaac looked about ready to snap his neck, Matthew scoffed and said loudly, "Whatever, you're painfully homosexual anyway. I suppose you're going to go fuck your girlfriend or something."

This drew attention of people who were nearby, at first many of them had assumed he had been talking to Isaac, who looked ready to kill now more than ever. But they soon realised it was in fact little miss Amber Ordoway, who despite the sudden insult remained level headed.

"Yup," she said, taking a sip from her cup, "you're right. The only straight I am is straight up bitch."

With that, Amber Ordoway pushed Matthew into the pool beside them and made her grand exit, quickly followed by a now slightly amused Isaac
